#vinyl 2026 LP15 & 16 Durutti Column Renascent & Younger Brother Weapon Of Mass Distraction. Two great new albums from older artists and who can argue with a free Durutti Column tote bag from Piccadilly Records! First spin now, a beautiful album. The YB is excellent too, that one landed yesterday.
#vinyl #aphextwin #electronica For exactly 25 years now I’ve been trying to figure out where to keep this absurdly oversize box set! The odds of playing it all at the right speed is low given half is 33 and half is 45! Today it has been reissued, including a limited dumb box version like this!
#vinyl #joydivision #closer I found out Joy Division’s Closer is 46 years old today! Still an astonishing ground-breaking record. Dig your copy out for a spin right now! It deserves it!
#vinyl 2026 LP12 #electronica Boards Of Canada day came early this week. Rather good it is too. Comments on pressing etc in alt text where there is so much more room!
Remarkably I think you picked an ad for exactly the copy of Aja I have (Japanese 1st press)!
#cassette #cassaturday Corvid One - Two. A rather wonderful ambient/noise/shoegaze/electronica thing, see @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social I’m liking this a lot. PS If anyone wants to know how/why it took me well over a year to restore a Nak LX-3 I’ve linked a thread over on pfm in the alt text!
#vinyl 2026 LP7 Art School Girlfriend - Lean In. Hard one to pigeonhole, but includes appropriate quantities of #shoegaze, #electronica etc along with respectable pop sensibilities. Signed copy (insert) from Resident. A decent sounding pressing.
Mine has some real ‘patina’! Bought new at the time (I am that old) and saw some fairly grim flats in the ‘80s, so likely that’s what accelerated the rust. The inside is still near mint, as is the vinyl. I like my copy despite being an obsessive collector. That tarnish is my life! No dents though!
#vinyl @cowtoolsdaily.bsky.social Henry Cow Tools PS I’m sure there is a far better Henry Cow/Cow Tools gag to be had than this somewhere, but this is all I have!
#vinyl 2026 LP6 Pre-order of Mandy Indiana’s Urgh arrived. Industrial synth-pop stuff, maybe think DAF, SPK, Front242, TG etc. Comes with appropriate eye-protection for the yellow/orange splatter vinyl. Not the best pressing (infill?), but it is so obnoxious and in your face its barely noticeable!
#Vinyl 2026 LP4 #electronica #trains Craven Faults - Sidings. Excellent semi-ambient electronica from Yorkshire on the Leaf Label. This is the orange vinyl from Bandcamp with very nice photo book and card.
First one of 2025 lands; Dry Cleaning’s Secret Love on “apricot” vinyl with signed photo. Actually quiet and flat! Rather good so far. No massive departure from the previous two albums, they are what they are, and it’s this. I’ll maybe try documenting everything new I buy this year.
#Vinyl New Wet Leg album Moisturiser landed, albeit a day late despite the comedically huge £6.15 postage charge. It is growing on me after a couple of plays. The “3d lenticular” cover of this edition is quite amusing; Rhian’s somewhat creepy expression changes depending on the viewing angle.
One of my better £1 bin finds was an original hand-sprayed cover copy of the first album. A shop in Chester in about 1983, very possibly Penny Lane. Good album, I knew nothing about them at the time, just that it had to be worth a quid!
