RIP Cassie Mouse. She was extra small so named after Antman's daughter. Almost 2 years old, lived with a chronic, incurable, breathing condition but didn't let it stop her. Loved running in their flying saucer wheel. We now have a nebuliser set up for mice because of her. Miss you my tiny one. 💔 xx
So, the exceptions prove the rule, eh. Not always. Nature doesn't work that way.
RIP my beloved Sylvie Mouse, 18 months old. She had very unusual white & cream fur, which never really showed up in pics. Our colony's matriarch, named for the MCU Loki variant as I knew she was gonna be mischief :) Always first out for treats & attention. Gonna really miss you, sweet one. 💔🐁
Phew! My darling Claudia Mouse had surgery today to remove a mass from her chest. Turned out it was 2 masses! The op went well, she's home safe, bored as she isn't allowed to climb, jump or exercise but doing well! ❤️
Ending 2025 with a tiny funeral. RIP my beautiful, sweet, beloved Wendy Mouse. About 15 months old. 😭
Proud. Although I'm definitely not as good at french as this suggests. Still struggle with grammar a lot, and I can't for the life of me remember if most nouns are masculine or feminine.
Discovered little Gwen Mouse helplessly rolling in the nest. 99% sure it's an inner ear infection as we've seen it before. Gave her Loxicom (painkiller & anti-inflammatory). She's managed to eat lots while I held her steady. Will be making an emergency call to vet in the morning for antibiotics.
Fab support from one of my other favourite musicians - Jake Martin, a bit more punk and a brilliant songwriter.
An utterly amazing show (as always) from Gaz Brookfield at the Brunswick tonight. Had a fantastic time & sung my heart out. He has two No 1 Folk albums now and a lot more people should know about him.
Things we do for mice. We have a recurring upper respiratory condition going round our colony, so vet suggested a nebuliser with appropriate meds in it a couple of times a day. So, this is Version 1. WIll be buying a more suitable (less chewable) box this week. Didn't bother them in the slightest.
If 16 yr olds can leave home, enlist, marry, ride a moped and lots more, but especially work & pay taxes, why shouldn't they vote? *No taxation without representation*
It's that time of year again! I traditionally post a pic with Oscar cat on my lap being utterly indifferent to the drama on the courts, but sadly not this year. #Wimbledon
No, I don't just "dislike the heat", it makes me ill. Not least of which, a racing heartbeat. I love a sunny day, love a warm day, but anything beyond the low 20Cs, esp if no breeze, and I start feeling unwell. I've always described myself as a Discworld troll - the hotter i get the dumber i get.
In happier news, the Green Shield Bug eggs I saved have safely hatched, so the babies can go back outside & get on with their lives. Mission accomplished!
We had to have Oscar Cat, our beautiful fluffy boy, put to sleep today. Reluctant to move suddenly, assumed he'd hurt himself. Vet this morning, tests, scans......his kidneys were riddled with incurable lymphomas & causing severe anaemia. We had to let him go. We are heartbroken. RIP 😭💔😭
Been doing some pruning, & noticed these eggs on a twig that I'd just cut. 99% sure they're Green Shield bug eggs. Felt guilty, as even if I put the leaf in a bush they'd be more vulnerable to predation than where they were, so I have them in a tank just till they hatch. Then it's down to them.
After taking up the old deck, next step is drastically cutting back the bamboo growing through it. Took all day today to prune the 2.5m long stems & cut them up into sacks. Tomorrow, we start the "getting the roots out" part, which is going to be utter hell, even with powered secateurs.
This arrived today. Total surprise, thought we had a few months left! Bloody hell, we fully own our house!
