Nanci died 5 years ago today at age 68. I was lucky enough to see her live several times. An amazing songwriter and storyteller, master of interpreting others songs, crusader for peace and justice. Her music came into my life when I really I needed it, and I will carry her words in my heart forever.

When did you first see this in the theater? For me it was winter of 80/81, Boston Massachusetts. At midnight of course. A friends mother used to say nothing good ever happens after midnight. Perhaps, but sometimes that is the point. There's a light in the darkness of everybody's life.

In the last month I've had #poems accepted by 3 different publications. Also published my book More Than a Whisper. Pretty satisfying run. It could only be made better if you all rushed out and bought the book like the gentleman in the picture (note me eagerly pocketing his money). #poetrycommunity

This album is different from just about everything I enjoy. Is it the amazing voice of Alison Moyet? Perhaps the point in space & time it transports me to. And then there is the spot perfect use of Only You in the show Fringe. Whatever it is this is a beautifully crafted piece of techno-pop genius.
Let's call it Americana with a bit of a dark edge. She is one of my favorite artists of the last 10 years. Also special to me because when I last saw her live, opening for The Amy Ray Band, I had just had my first date with the woman I would eventually marry. Never too old for new things.
Today is the 60th anniversary of ground breaking album Rubber Soul. Also today, this rubber soul broke upon the ground. Coincidence? I think not.
Preparing for some Indian food as part of an unconventional Thanksgiving. This album by an obscure Scottish band has become a favorite. One of only 2 they released, it's a mix of folk and rock with 21st century sensibilities. Lead singers voice has a haunting resemblance to Sandy Denny. 2009.
51 years ago Nick Drake died by suicide. He was enigmatic reclusive and had severe depression. He recorded 3 albums before retreating from public life. They sold poorly during his life and one can only wonder if had he achieved the success while alive he has since things might have been different
3 years ago this weekend I had the honor to have dinner with @thekatemulgrew.bsky.social. She'd come to Bloomington to see the statue of Captain Janeway that I and a dedicated team had designed, financed and erected. I can attest that Kate was genuine, funny, and a joy to spend time with. #startrek
Boygenius. In their solo careers they were constantly encouraged to collaborate with men because the men were such a boy geniuses. Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus. In college a roommate pointed out that my album collection was virtually all men. He was right. I've come a long way Tony.
