This was a fun style experiment for me! I realized I don't talk enough /how/ I make art, so I put some quick notes together for my study/creative process! Hopefully this is a fun read and/or helpful to folks! Full alt text available in case the text is tough to read!

REFERENCE GATHERING + STUDYING:
I've always been inspired by Tetsuya Nomura's character busts, particularly with the style used for art in Final Fantasy VII/VIII and The Bouncer.

I have some notes paired with my references below for what I paid attention to style-wise to apply to my own studies.

a number of character busts from Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, and The Bouncer are shown, with notes highlighting different parts of the images, such as:
- Blue used for bounce light/shading accents
- Thicker lines for jaw, neck, nose, and eyes
- Medium-hard brush blending for shadows
- Super-bright/Stark white for brightest highlights, softly blended into flats
- Pencil-style texture & grit for lines

I gathered these references from the video game concept art galleries on Creativeuncut.com - their hi-res images were very helpful for seeing finer details!
