Been busy, haven’t watched a ton of movies in the last week, but here‘s my last 4. Two cool serials, a new masterwork, and a good funny time at da movies
98. The Old King’s Crown by Pablo Clark - Just played this for the first time last night and it’s a treat. Sprawling and huge strategy game with a ton of stuff to keep in your head at once, but a single clash can turn the tides in your favor. Really something special. I’m excited to play again.
97. Hot Streak by Jon Perry - Such a fun, fast, easy, propulsive, exciting betting game that will get everyone yelling and shouting. Lovely! And it looks fantastic.
96. Roads & Boats by Joris Wiersinga and Jeroen Doumen - I’m too intimidated and haven’t played this game yet because it seems TOO big and crazy. It’s a game about infrastructure management where no one actually owns anything and geese do science. But I WANT to play it very badly.
95. Magical Athlete by Takashi Ishida & Richard Garfield - You roll and you move. It’s that easy, except every racer has a special ability that breaks the game. This is a beautiful, simple, hilarious game that I love. The art by Angela Kirkwood is amazing. Maybe the best looking game we own?
94. Trailblazers by Ryan Courtney - I’ll be honest, I didn’t love this the first time I played it, but I think I was playing under not ideal conditions. In the game, you make winding paths and fulfill objectives by laying out cards. I wanna give it another try soon because it does seem fun!
93. Iliad by Reiner Knizia - Fun and great art! You claim border tiles by getting more points in each row or column. We’ve played this a few times and it’s fun outmaneuvering your opponent by putting the exact wrong tile down at exactly the right time. Good stuff from Big K.
92. Bombastic by Robert Hovakimyan - It‘s Tic-Tac-Toe combined with a memory game and shifting tiles around while trying to avoid the bomb! Very simple, very quick, it’s fun!
