been having fun naming things in simcity 4 recently ..

finished a new module over the weekend btw, a distortion module based on schematics for a marshall "the guvnor" pedal. introducing..... The Module Known Only as "Sir"

front view of the new module. this is the first time ive made a panel and not had to file any holes into alignment, which i guess means my freehand drilling accuracy is improving. still wish i had a drill press tho,

side view of the module. the circuit board is pretty small since most of the wiring made more sense to just do directly on the back of the controls. the panel wiring doesn't look too bad from here, but....

rear view of the module, revealing how absolutely rancid the panel wiring situation really is. mostly this is due to me getting the bass and treble pots backwards, swapping those, then realising i also had the bass pot wired backwards and having to rewire that too. its fucking disgusting back here.....

it did surgery on a mp3

sansa clip (like, the original model) with a new battery

close up showing that only the battery cell was replaced, not the control board (apparently sandisk's mp3 players dont play nice with modern control boards). the contacts were spaced way wider on the replacement tho so it's got this goofy little wire bridging the gap

the battery now mummified in kapton tape

the sansa clip fully reassembled and showing almost 26h of battery remaining (although it seems to drain much faster than that when the screen is on so i guess we'll see if there was any point to all this next time i listen to it,)

front view of my new eurorack module, its a sample & hold module. not much to say about it from the front

3/4 view of the module. the circuit is so small i ended up doing it sideways, which means it doesn't stay upright on its own. so its propped up on a wrench.

side view of the module. the panel wiring is whatever on this one, i was very tired. also reveals that the ic is not a tl074 for once, its a lf444 instead (for an awesome reason)

i actually did this 2 days ago it's already in my rack & as u can see i have been playing with it.. shoving it into the fm input on the vco makes fun sounds

i altered it one last time.. spot the Difference..... solution in alt text :)

noise module again but very slightly altered (i swapped a couple resistors out to bring the volume of the pink & red noise outputs down by ~20%, it's actually not that hard to spot cos the old ones were carbon film and the replacements are metal film so theyre bright blue now instead of the usual beige)
