Yes, it's 2026, but you can still get COVID-19. Luckily, it's a mild case. I also know where I got it. I was sitting for like an hour in the Juneau airport gate area behind a guy who was coughing hard. I should've moved, but didn't. Fucking people don't consider masking up or isolating in public.
Fnally got to see the glaciers upclose. Having done many travel adventures, glacier paddleboarding is def one of the best. After flying over the top of the glacier, you end up in this serene blue wonderland full of clear fresh water and ice. It's amazing.
After seeing glaciers from the air, we then saw Northwestern Glacier in Kenai Fjords NP from the water. Went kayaking among the icebergs and harbor seals and got up to 1/2 mile from the face (legal limit). Next will be helicoptering to the top of one!
Got to see Denali "up close" today. At ft tall, it easily dwarfs the 14ers out in Colorado. Also lucked out on weather as today is the first time in a month that the flight tours could go out because of heavy rain.
Trying to jog at 10am during a heat advisory day was not the smartest thing to do... *sits in front of box fan on high*
Enjoyed watching the World Cup this year. But dang... Those refs are hunky!
Two older guys in a sports car, driving up to the mountains. No, it's not gay.
Visiting Zymos Brewing in Littleton, CO for the first time and saw this beautiful fox mural on their wall. It represents the nearby foxes. #foxes
They're back! Thank you so much, @vayrwolf.bsky.social for making them! I lost mine and tavvy's needed a refresh.
Happy summer solstice! Remember, it is the day with most sun time. But the earliest sunrise occurs a few days/weeks earlier (red) that today while the latest sunset is a few days/weeks after today (depends on latitude) #YouveEarnedOneBeer
Hiking Day 2 with @tavvytiggy.bsky.social. Went to Mills Lake and then Black Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. So pretty! Second time for us. Much less snow his time.
Enjoying some hiking out at Lake Isabelle in Brainard Lake Rec Area with @tavvytiggy.bsky.social !
Big congrats to the Carolina Hurricanes for winning the Stanley Cup! Also so happy for Vegas to get vanquished again. Screw that team and Torts.
Finally, that name is coming off the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Go America!
Did my first car camping of the year. Learned a bunch about how to properly pack food and water. Also this cute bear popped out close to us!
Inspired me to create a pride flag on my Apple //e. Happy Pride Month! (Colors are slightly off due to hardware limitations)
Learned from an old radio spot today that "ounce" was an original name for the snow leopard. Sneps were mistaken for a Eurasian lynx. So people used the Old French word "once" with la, or l"once, or lynx. Later the l' was dropped to make "once" and later "ounce" in English. #YouEarnedOneBeer
Saw this at a thrift shop. Looks like good reading for all the bunnies.
My web scraping script suddenly stopped working. This is after putting in a new ad blocking by DNS server up. Just discovered there is such a thing as DNS query limiting....
That worked! I now have 6 seedlings but need to decide which ones to keep and grow. I don't need 6 jalapenos plants.
For those geography newbies (like me) having trouble identifying things in the recent full Earth image courtesy of the Artemis II & NASA: Spain with southern Europe on the lower left edge, Africa on the left, South America in the lower right, and the north pole is toward the lower left corner.
