Pharmacist on a Pushbike
@ppushbike
Pharmacist in Sheffield, UK. Cycling for transport. Still use my car when appropriate. Bikeability instructor (used to be called Cycling Proficiency). Kidical Mass organiser. Choir singer. Rock climber. Occasional knitter. She / Her.
Chilli Tech do make a rear saddle mount, but I don't think there's enough space for it due to the saddle springs.
Can anyone help me rig up a mount for my rear camera? Unfortunately there isn't enough length to mount it directly on the seat post. I need some sort of extension.
Edited to protect the guilty. It generated a lot of comments, split between: A - criticism of phone drivers & praise for the cyclist B - calling me a "vigilante" or "Cycling Mikey".
18 showing 16 how to do bouldering: "You have to clean your shoes on the grass so there isn't gravel on them". She's not used to this sort of thing, but thoroughly enjoyed it: especially after they found holes they could squirm through. & unfazed by grazed knees! Also, intent on catching crickets.
Costa del Redmires. Lots of people enjoying swimming and paddle boarding (but not heaving). Lovely relaxing sounds of splashing water and gentle chatter & laughter. Warm sunshine. My 5-yearly outdoor swim, followed by drying off in the sun, chatting. Might do it again soon.
Juddering along the old railway line - the Churnet Valley Cycle Way. 4 km of this. Rattle rattle rattle, all the way back to Dunstone. Suspension would have been nice.
After leaving the canal there was a slightly unpleasant ascent up a busy road. I resorted to the pavement where it was available. Then some quieter roads, and onto a rattly forest trail followed by a rattly cycle way along an old railway line.
The Black Lion at Consall does excellent chips, and very kindly charged my phone.
Returned along the towpath whence I came, then continued further as instructed. The path less travelled? Narrow, obviously muddy at times, and overgrown. Who doesn't love trying to avoid pitching left into nettles & brambles, or right into the water? Very pretty though.
Excellent wheelchair accessible canal boat with a wheelchair lift, run by the Beatrice Charity www.beatricecharity.org
Cheddleton Flint Mill. Half way. The tearoom is open Mondays and Wednesdays. Today is Tuesday. Fortunately I have some snacks.
Garston. Notable because it's at the bottom of the 1st page of directions. I've done 25% of the distance and 45% if the ascent. It has Staffordshire's other Winking Man. It has Alpacas (or are they Llamas?) Pace: a leisurely 11.7km/h
The teens have been deposited at Alton Towers. Blimey, we're not even at peak theme park season yet and the roads in the local villages are chokkablock. Anyway, now for my adventure. But first: second breakfast.
I dunno whether these two guys know each other, or whether they've just bumped into each other at the station piano but they're enjoying themselves, and although the jamming is occasionally discordant there's a delightful joyfulness.
Mode du jour: Silly small wheels because they'll fit in a taxi later with the teens. Sandals and shorts as per usual this summer.
Trying to channel the wintery Christmasy feeling in an increasingly warm recording studio.
Adventures incoming. Thanks to @jackthurston.bsky.social for the book (and stickers and postcard) and @theblueulysses.bsky.social for the suggestion. If I'm not wanted at Alton Towers on Tuesday, then I'll be on my own Staffordshire Rollercoaster.

Apology received via the police, who have explained why his behaviour was unacceptable & that a repeat would be harassment. "He told me you did the correct thing in the first place and were not the one in the wrong". I'm happy with this outcome.
H and I trying to look like we're not being really slow as we approach the summit the first time (on the way to Glossop).
Then it was just the long (mostly) downhill back to Ladybower.
We reached the summit again at about 9.15pm. I was very wrong about being the last ones. We saw about a dozen more after that. We finished the Jelly Babies and started on the TangTastic Haribo.
Then commenced the return leg. I was glad that I'd had the front chainring changed to a smaller one last year. H ran out of gears and resorted to walking.
After reaching the barriers on the Glossop side we stopped for a sharp slice of pizza and a Snickers bar. Across the wall there were people playing golf. They might have been enjoying the quiet compared to the usual traffic noise.
H and I were undecided about whether to continue down to Glossop, but G persuaded us that we should on the grounds that we might not get another chance, and the gradients coming back up isn't actually as bad as it looks (he'd already been down & back up to the summit once). So we did.
We made reasonable time to the summit just under 1.5 hours, at what Komoot calls a "steady" pace. We stopped for photos, a wee, and Jelly Babies. F left us, and then we were three.
This evening I finally cycled over the Snake Pass. We started at Ladybower. After going through the barriers, we rode 4 abreast across the road for a while, before settling down into a 2 + 2 configuration (the slow ones and the quicker ones)
