Professor, songwriter, singer & guitarist of Abbey Cats, rusty PNW skydiver and pilot, dedicated dog dad, bee whisperer & defender of democracy 💙 🇺🇸 🏳️🌈 🇧🇪 🇮🇪 🇺🇦 🇨🇦 I've been voting "Blue" since before we called it that. Please No DMs!
This is Queen Gertrude the Fierce. She has not signed any executive orders supressing voting rights. Nor does she condone racism, sexism, heteronormativity, or human cruelty in any form. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Not having a great day, but it is better than how it started! The bleeding stopped quickly, I fixed my hair and stopped scowling.
There are better ways of waking up than a cat falling off the window sill above your bed and landing on your face. However, it gets you right out of bed and it's a pretty good indicator that your day will only get better from there.
Had to take a day off today. Sometimes we just need to hang out, no matter our conditions, and just take time to BE. Together.
I am such a successful gardener, I actually grew this carrot all by myself!
Got to play a little music with my friends last night. This heals my soul! Here's part of one of my original songs. I'm messing up the words of course... as I so often do! But friends and music make me happy.
A view from my patio. Sustenance from the land. My place of safety in this broken, angry, heartless world.
Groovy shirts are part of my Rock & Roll idiom. I just bought 5 new peace sign shirts. They should arrive before the next gig. I was too young to be a true hippie, but I can dress like a flower child, and I often do.
Tomatoes are almost as tall as I am. My dog watches from the cool of her pool as I work in the garden.
Abbey Cats are working on our new set-- rumor has it we'll be playing in a train car. More than anything, I'm just curious how that works!
The opening act. Pagan County Rebels. They are doing a cool acoustic grunge thing... and it is cool! Big guitar sounds move my soul!
Possibly my 1983 Gibson, but I'm sure I have shirts or other things that are older.
40 years ago I wrote this song, Unspoken Sadness. I'll be playing it on stage tomorrow night for the first time in decades. It's on my upcoming solo album, but tomorrow I'll be playing it with my band Abbey Cats. I wanted to share it with you all, first.
Feeling pretty good to get back out there musically. Our new band line up is hitting the stage this weekend, and it already feels good to be back. Playing with old friends and new.
82 years ago today, my uncle died saving the crew members of this B 17, "To Hell or Glory." He met them that morning & gave his life for them that evening, trying to save the wounded flight engineer. They both died that day, but the other 8 got to live thanks to his selfless bravery.
I'm so sorry to hear this. 12 years is not enough. Grey Hounds just steal your heart...I hope all your lovely memories can balance your pain. I know there are just no words. Shit, I'm tearing up just about it.
This is a dangerous, invasive parasite that feeds with no regard for the life of its victims. The other one is a screw worm.
Anybody else miss the good old days of sanity and reason? I've had my fill of crazy. Criminals and psychopaths are driving the bus. Mr. McInty and i want off!
Today I hired a local artist to do my album cover. I have the concept; she has the skills. The mastering was done 6 months ago, but with all that's going on in this world, my solo album didn't seem so important. Time to get stuff done! Here's my Gibson Dove:
I love growing my own food. Tonight, left-over pork tenderloin, in tomato sauce canned last year, tomatoes, onions and herbs all grown from my garden, paired with artichokes from this year's garden. For dessert, fresh strawberries which I haven't picked yet.
Shout-out to all my Belgian friends; those I know and love, and those I haven't met yet. Really wishing I was there right now.
My uncle flew 2 missions on D-Day and was KIA 17 days later 23 June 1944. I got to know his surviving crew members, but I never got to know him or hear his stories. Fuck fascism.
Hanging out with my critters, on this lonely Thursday night listening to Big Mama Thornton's "Lost Club Tapes" and remembering why she's my favorite female vocalist. Soul-Dynamics at its source. (Buddy Guy's guitar is like the groovy gravy poured all over the main course).
