When I launched the BLUE WAVE CABARET FUNDRAISING SERIES with five shows at NYC's Don't Tell Mama in 2018, I never thought I'd have to produce these events again. Eight years later, here we are, only this time it MUST be a BLUE TSUNAMI. Performer lineups and reservation links announced in March.
When Russia's War Crimes against Ukraine finally end, I hope to visit Kyiv and help teach the Ukrainian children using my friend Petro Dudyk's educational comic book magazines. In the meantime, this AI created image of me in a Ukraine classroom will have to do for now. #UkraineChildren
@lastwordmsnow.bsky.social We’ve been raising money to publish educational magazines for children of Ukraine, many war orphans. Good story for you here!
Here's a AI created magazine cover featuring myself with my Ukrainian Children's Magazine Publisher friend Petro Dudyk. We met on LinkedIn after Russia invaded Ukraine and I've been donating money and helping raise funds to finance publishing his magazines to educate children orphaned by this war.
If the New York Mets don't sign Kyle Tucker, I'd be available and it wouldn't cost them $50 million a year. I'd play for bupkis. Besides, thanks to ChatGPT I've already had a Bobblehead Day at CitiField. Hope Tom "Terrific" Seaver won't mind me using his retired number. ⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾ #Mets
Because I just can’t get enough of trolling the corrupt pathological-lying sociopath masquerading as our President.
Yesterday thousands of patriotic New Yorkers were heard loud and clear during the NO ICE FOR GOOD rally down Fifth Avenue past the most grotesque building in the country, outside of the current White House.
Strolling around Park Slope in Brooklyn on Monday morning, I ran into these on-strike baristas outside a Starbucks. It was a small but mighty group chanting "No Contract, No Coffee!" Never been a fan of this overrated, overpriced, oversaturated brand, so I hope these workers win this fight.
With Thanksgiving upon us, let's thank the courageous Ukrainian people, who have stood up to Russia and survive. My Ukrainian magazine publisher friend Peter Gartnyk needs more funds to continue publishing his magazines for children, many orphaned by the war. Here’s the link: gofund.me/59af3b2e5
My annual sad 11/22 post. I had just turned 8 and was in 3rd grade when we learned President Kennedy had been shot. By the time I sprinted home from school, JFK was gone. 33 years later, as an Editor at Scholastic, I wrote this story for 3rd and 4th grade readers of Scholastic News. #jfk
On my 70th birthday today, these photos are the best presents. I've received them from a Ukrainian Magazine Publisher friend as the response for my helping him publish magazines for Ukrainian kids. He now wants to publish a Children’s book so here’s my appeal and the link: gofund.me/59af3b2e5
With my birthday in 5 days, I've created this special Fundraiser to help a Ukrainian Children's Educational Magazine publisher continue to create learning tools for kids (some thanking me in video), many who have been orphaned by the war. If you can help, please go to this link. gofund.me/b03e69815
@hannahrkeyser.bsky.social Hannah, I have a great story for you for SNY about this Gary Carter magazine cover from 40 years ago that was never published, two years after the Tom Seaver issue that was part of how the Mets got Keith Hernandez in 1983. Please email me at stephenhanks41@gmail.com
Not sure how the BlueSky community feels about fundraising appeals, but for the past year I've been donating to a Ukrainian Children's Magazine publisher trying to continue printing educational pubs for the kids there, many are orphans of the war. It doesn't take much. Go to: gofund.me/c4c13f5a
So in April 1983 I launched a magazine called New York Sports with Tom Seaver on the first cover and we profiled Neil Allen. During the interview that winter at his home, Allen was drinking beer and began ripping the Mets FO and various players. After the mag hit newsstands, the Mets wanted him gone
I feel your pain. My first publishing job out of college in 1978 was as a fact-checker at SPORT Magazine. Five years later I launched my own magazine New York Sports and Tom Seaver was the cover of the first issue. ;)
