I dressed up to go out this evening, for once, and caught my reflection in a window. Realised I actually looked pretty good for once lol. First time wearing this jacket for a while. Definitely going on autumn rotation!
We are in for one of my favourite weekends of the year - Birmingham Cocktail Weekend: summer edition! After attending the launch, I took myself off to a couple of places I look after for work to check out what they're up to. Tasty stuff!
But for the hardcore amongst us, THIS was the unforseen treat. Reworked, snuck in at the end.

As ever, my point that whilst it appears I eat in luxury every day that isn't always the case lol. I present to you lunch and dinner lol. But I won't lie. I do get to eat good food lol.
Actually gothed in my home town for once lol. Saw people I haven't seen for over a decade, saw some regulars and saw people who were new. And saw my goth son for a bit lol
Put myself forward for a national industry body group a few weeks ago. Membership was controlled through an election. Sadly I've been too busy with work to actually do any campaigning etc. Got the outcome yesterday. I'm in. Got the most votes lol. Yes, this is a flex I don't do it often so.. Lol
Suburban lyf I love visiting our cool city neighbourhoods. Looking forward to some downtime this weekend though!
I had the honour to attend this person's retirement tonight. It hit me harder than expected I've known her for 15 years, running an amazing youth homelessness charity. I never worked for her but I didn't realise how observing her has had a profound effect on how I work. Genuine, true leadership
Pride day one done. I need a coffee. Then I need to rehydrate. Then I need to prehydrate. Then I can do it all again lol
Annual pride brunch shot. It's always good to have a catch up with lgbtq+ colleagues before the mayhem.
Birmingham pride starts today for me! Happy to have been attending our pride networking breakfast, even if I had to give the opening speech on the fly because I forgot I said I'd do it.... Lol
My good friend and one of my cooking inspirations, Dan, put me on to chimichurri. I've always find it to be that "meh" sauce for a steak. I like it, bit it's not my go to. Dan kindly shared his recipe and nudged me to use it on salads. Now this has become my meal saver - salads,meat, everything lol
This is one of my favourite mid week meals. It punches in terms of flavour vs effort. The only special ingredient is shittake mushrooms which you could probably leave out. It takes about 45 minutes to cook: most of that is waiting. 2 pans and a couple of bowls. Minimal heat (ideal for summer).
