I am not a gardener…but this lovely rose bush seems to thrive on benign neglect. It’s quite literally the only non-weed plant in the “garden”.
Easter has always been a joyful holiday for my family. This year there was a sense of nostalgia for times when the undercurrent wasn’t worry. I have hope in renewal…but grieve for all the harm as we collectively develop understanding of what we don’t want to be.
Cold an clear in Alaska. Not going in the Tongass Narrows but it felt so good to be outside on the shore.
Culture is healing in action. Shared effort and sacred purpose. Generations. For my granddaughters.
Based on a misleading Facebook response to a post about Hesegeth’s confirmation, I looked at the poster’s profile. This is what it showed. So ugliness can now be ugly in secret. Yes…I know…I’m in the process of leaving Facebook.
This year, taking down the tree and decorations hit different. It feels like putting away celebration, warmth and tradition…straightening the space and preparing for whatever fresh hell this year will bring. Sigh. Fuck.
Tonight I’ll sleep, tomorrow I’ll turn my face to the sun and remember my courageous spirit. But holy moly, it’s a daily effort.
The students “handled themselves magnificently.” Doesn’t it turn your stomach to know children are being praised for knowing how to behave during a shooting? 😔
