Socialist. Lawyer. You don't have to watch Dynasty to have an attitude.
Democratic voters in Los Angeles County elected a right-wing prosecutor (former G.W. Bush admin official Nathan Hochman) because they don't know what the fuck they are doing. The political illiteracy of Dem voters is a huge problem.
There's no mystery about where the Japanese govt can "find" yen, the very currency it alone issues. Investors aren't asking this question. The piece quotes a single, economically illiterate "consultant" asking it (Kelvin Lam).
Not mentioned in this article, the TSA already analyzed privatization in 2008 (Bush Admin) and concluded it could not efficiently be done under the legal constraints. www.gao.gov/assets/gao-0...
More of the same Labour Party subservience to the City. The party's polling will remain in the tank and it will continue to give political power to fascists under Burnham.
As suspected, ICE was acting criminally when it shot a man who presented no threat. Whitmire—a right-wing Dem—changing his tune about investigation is a good sign that public pressure is building, though local Dem officials are still falsely claiming helplessness, as they have been everywhere else.
The Trump admin has violently taken Venezuela hostage, yet somehow the only govt described as "authoritarian" in the article is Venezuela's. It also fails to explain how Venezuela's economic & political problems are attributable to US sanctions, which are a part of the hostage-taking scheme.
ICE does not have the authority to make traffic stops. Their cars are usually not even marked in any way (although the article doesn't even bother to say). If an agent in an unmarked car tried to make a "vehicle stop," that agent was likely committing a crime of some kind to effectuate it.
If that weren't enough, the warrant also disturbingly treats political speech as evidence of crime. Agents identifed as "evidence" to be seized “any and all flyers, printed materials, social media posts, and communications” concerning “anti-government ideology” & “anti-law enforcement.”
The govt tried to patch the hole by pointing to other people. The affidavit asserts that agents searched co-D Morris’s residence & found firearms, body armor, spray paint, and fireworks. It also asserts agents found "anti-government" propaganda in a box that had been moved out of co-D Rueda's home.
The affidavit’s Soto-home nexus was basically that FBI agent Robin Ford-Lofland's “training and experience” caused her to believe that people involved in “planning calculated and coordinated acts of violence” "often" “retain in their residences” items/records related to the alleged offense.
First, the warrant was signed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Cureton at the request of FBI SA Robin Ford-Lofland. The judge is supposed to stop the government from searching a home unless it shows probable cause to believe particular, identifiable evidence of a crime is located at that home.
This loser has millions of dollars for no reason. I doubt any federal judge will do class treason by sending him to prison.
It's funny because Trump thinks Netanyahu is on his side and just exercising bad judgment when reality is that Netanyahu is intentionally trying to undermine him.
Wow. Boutros's "Report" flips the constitutional relationship between prosecutor and grand jury on its head. A grand jury is not an arm of the US Attorney’s Office charged with enforcing criminal law. It's an independent constitutional body intended to serve as a public check on executive power.
lol no. Southern white liberals have a long—basically unbroken—history of betraying the black population when the rubber hits the road (this is where the phrase lily-white comes from). Wasserman Schultz should lose wherever she runs, just because she's terribly, but especially here.
For some reason, Semafor did not explain to its readers that Bessent's statements are easily disproven because economic sentiment/confidence is routinely measured. Isn't the purpose of journalism to inform people rather than manipulate them into thinking an authority figure might have a point?
The grand jury investigation is itself clearly a federal felony offense (18 U.S.C. § 241 & 242) whose participants should be investigated and prosecuted once Trump is removed from office, but putting that small problem aside for the moment: this is an obvious red flag.
What's missing from this analysis is savings. Drawing down savings for daily living negatively affects sentiment—it feels bad to spend your security away. Inflation becomes a kind of scapegoat, especially when wages keeping pace (although not everybody kept pace). www.frbsf.org/research-and...
The Iranians would be idiots to agree to these demands. If they do, the complete loss of their sovereignty/independence is guaranteed. In other words, Iranian assent will essentially be surrender.
People can be so naive. Nobody in power cares about helping Iranians as people, even as they seek regime change; Iranians even experienced this firsthand when the US ruled Iran for decades last century. Still some manage to delude themselves into believing the US & Israel (!!) want to save them.
Michael Kozak and Jeff Graham should be in locked cages. (Rubio goes without saying.)
