Okay, brace yourselves for 27 seconds of an actual hummingbird hawk moth rummaging around in the lavender while I attempt to keep it in focus.
Off to the recycling centre. Woohoo! *waves dusty old cushion like a flag*
Spotted a hummingbird hawk moth by the lavender but it was far too fast to get a pic. It was huge, with a pointy nose and bum so I’m thinking last night’s mob may have been regular hawk moths (or something else entirely). Anyway, here’s an interesting mutant potato instead (Pentland Javelin, IIRC).
Or scores of hummingbird hawk moths rustling about in the lavender at dust?
If that’s not to your taste, how about some nice, relaxing bumblebees? With bonus swallow backing track. (Not actually that relaxing up close - those fuzzy little bees give it 110%).
If you need to see 36 seconds of a juvenile bluetit attempting to cling to a leaded window and tap it to scare out tasty bugs, I have good news for you.
Today's #BookQW word is 'change'. In this extract from The Waterborne Blade Marten's trying to convince the unreceptive former King's Man Weaver to rejoin a cause he believes lost.
Art installation in our carport, loosely inspired by Tracy Emin, result of a collaboration with the electrician (who had ladders all over the place) and the house martins.
Sure, sportsball is great, but pause to marvel at these smooth, smooth pebbles from Silecroft beach.
Two of the delphinium stems have gone flat and folded over. 🤷♀️ I wish someone would turn up and buy the house so I can stop worrying about stuff like this.
Got a bargainous secondhand chair from a charity shop on Monday. Within seconds of it arriving in the house the cat claimed it for her own. She spent most of yesterday asleep on it. Today we moved it through to the snug, and she’s loyally followed it. It’s her chair now.
Today's #BookQW word is 'simple'. In this extract from Waterborne 3* Alwenna is scrying for answers but she's only finding more questions. *Work in progress so all the usual caveats apply.
Trending topics are handled incredibly clumsily here: messed-up AI tools messing up, or intentionally muddying the waters, for nefarious reasons? McConnell posts seem mostly about Platner, ‘ICE activity’ posts seem overwhelmingly happy furries and other folks all ‘Yeah, Chicago’s great!’
It’s the road to Wigan Pier, lads. (One day I’ll no longer find this amusing but this is not that day.)
The cat’s enjoying the final Shadows of the Apt audiobook while I freshen up some paintwork.
Some research material arrived, perfectly timed to coincide with the end of the epic work on the house.
As to better understanding precisely _why_ their "services may access the Internet when not actively engaged..." can't say I'm much the wiser.
We were debating what to do about the weeds in our yard, but the goldfinches enjoy browsing them, and now the neighbourhood hare’s on the case, too.
Got to admire the turn of speed on a hummingbird hawk moth. I suppose you need that if you share the sky with hungry swallows.
