Yes, the world is a difficult place. And work isnt what it used to be. But my greenhouse is in incredible shape: tomatoes, cucumbers, courgette flowers, chillies, purple basil Aubergine 👩🌾
I resigned from a major leadership role during the pandemic as it had become an impossible task - best decision ever. I thought the world would come to an end but it absolutely did not. I drove home that day feeling a bit sad but then thought: maybe I can now have a dog - which I did 🙏🐾
Tonight: Pollock with herby butter (garlic parsley tarragon). It was a big fish and a struggle to pull it in 🎣🐟👨🍳
More seafood cooking in Cornwall: Hake with garlic and chorizo. Crab risotto. Fresh tarragon and dried dulse flakes 👨🍳
More seafood in another remote cottage in Cornwall. Today: pasta with fresh clams 👨🍳
An exciting day for the spaniel: in a dog crate in the passenger cabin of a tiny plane from the Isles of Scilly to mainland Cornwall 🛫🎢🐾😬
The spaniel after another day of running and swimming in the Atlantic 🌊🐾🏖️
Incredible luck today: spotted an incoming fishing boat and bought two spiny lobster for the price of a takeaway. Awesome 🦞🙏
Seafood cooking in a holiday cottage in Cornwall: Spiny lobster, pepper dulse butter 🦞
Cooking in a holiday cottage in Cornwall 👨🍳 pan fried brill fillets with pepper dulse and thyme herby butter. Garlic bread. Chips. Garlic mayo with thyme from our garden 👩🌾 Wine: Lyme Bay white sparkler from Devon. Spaniel also had a little bit of Brill and is now asleep on my lap with a happy smile🐾
Swimming in Cornwall 🌊 The spaniel has a new bag for her beach toys 🙂
Dog 43 (dachshunds Stanley and Boodge) rest in peace David Hockney (1937-2026)
Nice to come home from the ERA26 congress and see that the garden is doing well - shown here the department of basil: purple basil, green basil and Thai basil 👩🌾
Today: white asparagus, new Potatoes, Hollandaise, parsley, ham 👨🍳🇩🇪
My audio book for the car this week. A secret service in decline trying to curry favour with its political masters. An operation in Eastern Germany gone horribly wrong. Le Carre at his best. I love it 📖🕵️♂️
A perfect evening: watching Tatort with my (bilingual) spaniel 🇩🇪🐾🚓
Had a good week so wanted to cook something nice: Dover sole with wild garlic butter, sea samphire, potatoes, salad from our garden with borage and mustard leaves 🐟👩🌾👨🍳
Spring starter: fried clary sage leaves with black pepper and truffle oil. Sourdough bread with homemade wild garlic pesto 👩🌾👨🍳
