Read Hollywiod Remaking for a different perspective on remakes. It's from 2022 and while informative (way more remakes in 30's & 40's) it didn't go far enough. Nostalgia & the hole of generational interest in sequels & franchise. Only touched on conservative backlash to diversity in remaking.
