I dusted off my canvassing shoes and knocked 40 doors in Hanover today for @shannontaylorva.com #NoOnWittman and the @hanovervadems.bsky.social I'm rusty but still got it! I had a positive reception, for the most part (lol--it is Hanover). Lots of people are ready to vote Wittman out! 1/
Big congrats to my friend @shannontaylorva.com for her big primary win in Virginia's 1st Congressional District tonight. Shannon works so hard, and as long as I have lived in the RVA area, she has always shown up for me, for her fellow Dems, and for lots of people. 1/
We just VOTED EARLY in person in the Democratic CD-01 Primary up at the Wickham Building at Hanover Courthouse. Gotta love Sunday voting, especially when you work full-time during the week. They're open today until 5pm--it's Sunday July 19th.
Go, France! 🇫🇷 Allez les Bleus! As I said during the Group Stage, ultimately, everyone is going to lose to France. They're that good.
My hot take is, if you can't prevail when your opponent is playing with a player down, you don't deserve to win. #WorldCup2026
Happy Juneteenth! Things are not looking good for freedom and its future in this country right now, for any of us. But let's remember what Juneteenth stands for and let's keep fighting for freedom and equality.
Great day for the Ashland Strawberry Faire! My first time in forever not working at it....
In other news, I finally got to give blood again. I try to do so once a season. I fall down on the job sometimes in winter but spring is here! Check out the free pool towel I got. Thanks to St. Ann's Church in Ashland for hosting. Sign up to give blood here: www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/fi...
BREAKING: The Mountain Road/Rt 33 data center proposal was voted down by the Hanover Board of Supervisors this evening 4 to 3. This is really big. I gotta say, I did not see this coming.
Also, the activism of her middle and older age. I'm trying, Mom! I'm trying 😪
Good statement and explanation from the Virginia Senate Majority leader.
1/ Serious question: Are Hanover County Public Schools allowed to say no to hosting Hanover Republican Committee rallies that feature white nationalists? And someone sympathetic to neo Nazis who participated in efforts to overthrow the government on January 6th 2021?
There's hard work and continued perilous times ahead. But for yesterday, a great day. Lots of firsts. Virginia Gubernatorial Inaugural Ceremony photo dump #1!
Such a fabulous afternoon spent at the Holiday Market in DC with an old friend.
At the community meeting regarding the massive data center installation proposal for the South Anna District which will have a huge impact on both Hanover and Henrico Counties. Standing room only. Lots of pissed off people from Hanover who don't want these data centers. 1/
I much prefer this map to the winner-takes-all one ( I really try my best to avoid describing places as "red" or "blue"). Much more precise and accurate this way.
Happy Election Day! I was up (before it was) bright & early to open up the Honey Meadows precinct in the Ashland District. I'll be making the rounds after I finish my shift. Get out and #VoteDemocratic!!!
It was our community's absolute pleasure to welcome @abigailspanberger.com to Hanover County this past Friday when she stopped here as part of her GOTV bus tour. And it was my absolute pleasure to give opening remarks as Chair of the @hanovervadems.bsky.social. HUGE crowd. Incredible morning.

Nothing better than some time with my guy at the Richmond Folk Festival this past weekend on a beautiful fall day. We appreciate these moments so much now because they were next to impossible when 2 of our 3 kids were younger 😅
The Hanover Good Ol' Boys Network is gonna Hanover Good Ol' Boys Network. Laws and rules and sharing power are not for them, just for the rest of us. And that's what many other fine folks and I are trying to change around here. Slowly but surely, we are. www.thecentralvirginian.com/election_new...
It's rare that politicians and public figures apologize these days. I think it shows humility, great strength of character and it shows leadership. Words matter and so do apologies. Thank you to those politicians and public figures who show how it's done.
