Decapitation started as a way to ensure loyalty. Death only stops working inside the castle and it ensures your nobles can never leave. This becomes something of a moot point once the castle engulfed more than half the world, but you still see knights from time to time, heads barely tethered.

There are so many eldritch forces in the world eating castle that death becomes a little weaker there. It becomes super easy for any #Aspirant to resummon the dead using a reliquary or a soul calling bell. You can also be a cool bee fairy

I have GOT to draw more of our characters with guns. They're made by evil wizards and turn your own blood into bullets and they are rad as hell. Plus we are leaning into an italian/ catholic reliquary bit with the fashion so I can just make Tybalt the Prince of Cats! And I can make him a rat guy!

He has a red vest with renaissance catholic jesus art on it, very tight black pants and like three giant pistols, on in his hand, one in a black leather hip holster and one in a golden holster around his chest. His hair is heavily gelled back and ridiculous and he has a dumb tiny soul path. I love him.

We are pushing back the kickstarter for #Aspirant to the spring of 2027. @andrewengelbrite.bsky.social, has been dealing with some unexpected emergency stuff and it will give us time to get a polished second playtest before the launch. I'll be updating here more often. #ttrpg

Still tweaking this a bit but I got a card/ character sheet weapon slot figured out that will work for all of out different weapons. Beyond your basic Wit/ Stamina/ Will skills all of your combat skills are based on what weapon youve picked up, so it was important to get it nailed down. #ttrpg

Finished the art of our life and death eldritch goddess. Lady Ambrose. I decided to add some lit incense stick to her hair

The bottom half of her face is covered by a tattered veil. Long metal prongs sprout like a candelabra from either side and support dozens of melting candles. Behind her head is a metal halo. Another Eldritch god for #Aspirant. This is Lady Ambrose, of life and death. She has a lot of smoke, candle and incense imagery and most of the armor and weapons associated with Soul Calling will share her spiraling smoke cloud motifs. We are taking some inspiration from the King in Yellow.

Working on more art of out Insect fairies. This one is a bee necromancer.

You are a Witchling. Handcrafted by a coven for the undead nobility. When the gem and glass the Earth Foci replaces rotting flesh with inevitably breaks, they require new limbs and those limbs must be custom and beautiful. Your stone skin is hand etched and your heart is full of fury. Fight back.

The witchling wears no clothes to hide their turquoise skin marbled with lines of white. Antlers of the same material sprout from the brow. A massive red gauntlet keeps a limb pristine for sale. They stare up at a skeleton nobleman just off screen. We can only see their boney hand reaching out for the hand of the witchling. An old witch covered in green rags, black briar thorns and rusted chains is manacled to the witchling, and presses them forward from behind, grasping their arm at the elbow and forcing their hand into that of the undead nobleman. The witchling leans away from them, staring up with a look of defiance.

I had to remake the pngtuber I made for announcements because I lost the file that had all the parts in it but I actually like his mouth flaps better now.

A cat like purple worm or grub like creature wearing a wide red scarf. He has three tentacles that make up his hair and 4 yellow eyes with sideways red pupils. he has wormlike arms that end in four petal like fingers. He does indeed look extra smug now

Been thinking about how the cities that are trapped inside the world engulfing castle in #Aspirant get veggies when they all live on marble floors. I think one solution is giant sloths that work as mobile gardens, like how sloths can grow algae on their backs. Some dwellers use them as very slow RVs

#Aspirant #ttrpg We've realized that out TTRPG book is going to actually have to be two books. One for the GM and one for the player. So here is the new cover for the player book. I wanted to show of the setting a little more.

Inside of a massive castle, MC Escher like stairs go in all directions. People are walking upside down on some of the stair ways. A red goblin riding a tardigrade or waterbear stands on top of a broken pillar. He wears a masquerade mask and holds a staff with a massive bell. The Title, "Aspirant" is in gold letters and is surround by a massive mess of castle spires and spreading gold tendrils. There is a mountain enclosed within this giant castle chamber and swirling clouds hide how far down the chamber goes. The back of huge serpentine dragon snakes in and out of the clouds. We do not see its head. Out the window the sky is pitch black, and a giant monstrous eye hangs where the moon should be.

Okay but the earth god in the castle can stop you from dying by replacing your injured flesh with glass, so when you settle in a castle town you can see which of the NPCS used to be adventurers and which injury was the thing that happened to them to make them go "Nope Im gonna go be a shopkeep"

I really love the concept of finding an organic explanation for why certain quality of life videogame concepts exist in a world. The snails in Aspirant are tied to a time/space god and exist in two places at once. So you get a cute little NPC to rescue and when you do you get a fast travel point.

As we gear up to maybe get a kickstarter for #aspirant going this year I really wanted to make the book feel like a magical tome, which to me meant making a language. I finally got the kinks figured out. This says "Venture into the Castle that Eats" #ttrpg #ttrpgfolks

Be sure not to cut in line on your way through the accounting halls, or the scratching of quills will suddenly stop and something will take notice

three or so skeletal accountants have melded together in a sticky black inky slime. The main head looks at its pocket watch through a monocled eye as the other limbs and heads jut out from its robes and attend to the ledgers.

Okay I need help. Does ANYONE know what artist this is because this is the ENTIRE vibe I am going for with the are for #Aspirant. Look at it! The red! The rotting castle! An infinite stairway that defies physics. The feeling that you are very small being swallowed whole by a space. REAL BIG bugs.

Nosforatu specifically from the most recent movie of the same name is embracing squidward in the doorway next to the infmaous light switch. Squidward swoons and says "n-nosforatu" while he looks down and spongebob who is bleeding out in the family guy death pose on the floor. Count Orlok's hand is honking squidwards ass, I feel that is important to say. Happy Valentines day

Like the stinging wasp fairies, all fae creatures in #Aspirant are a little "buggy". They crawl out from the flesh of the corpse of an old goddess like maggots and all retain insectine features. Most castle dwellers have forgotten what a real unicorn looks like.

A unicorn with bug like features. The spiky beetle like body armor covers blue wings just barely poking out the haunches. its whole body has a pearly and oil slick like rainbow hue. Its face splits into mandlbles like that of an ant. the tail curves into a long stinger tipped whip longer than its whole body.

In #Aspirant the only true dragon is an eldritch god of perfection, that takes beings and twists them to be more perfected (ie. like themself) So sometimes you just get monkey dragons. #ttrpg #wip

Goblinoids in the #Aspirant ttrpg setting have a special affinity for the giant microbes or "Macrobs" that roam the castle, which is great if you are a believer in weird little guy solidarity.
