On June 14, 2025, Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed at their home by a man impersonating a police officer. Another Democrat, John Hoffman, was shot on the same night by the murderer who is unidentified and still at large. Her name is Melissa Hortman.
