I turn latin poetry into long lists of floating point numbers. For (and only for) the purpose of potential employment I have a couple of phds or whatever.
This is the fourth time I have made roast pork following www.recipetineats.com/pork-shoulde... and she is right, it really never misses. TL;DR prop up on cut onions, wine in pan, 2.5 hours at 140 fan, 30 mins at 250, rotating the pan. The gravy is the stuff of song and story.

These different kind of elision are critical, but super nerdy. Basic scansion will teach people that the vowel is lost and the two words are kind of joined or slurred together. HOWEVER, elision of 'que' in particular does not work that way in Vergil's head!

idk if Brathähnchensehnsucht is a real word, but I had it acutely today. My terrible trick is to reduce 2 cups of chicken stock to 2tbsp and baste the skin with it to get proper kidney-unfriendly skin 🤤

Back on my charcoal bullshit (lamb chops, cut off the bone, divided into Fat and Lean, each skewer has Fat; 5x Lean; Fat. Seasoning is cumin (lots), garlic, and salt)
Stichic hexameter is green, top left, elegy is blue, under it and to the left. Bold labels are the 'middle' of that whole meter, italics are the middle of each author when writing in that meter (so Ovid appears twice)
Now, can we do authorship verification on poetry if all the authors are writing in the same meter ...mmmmmaybe. Across different meters? Absolutely the heck not. Nope, no, no, no. This is, putting it mildly, not obvious to most people. Meters are predators, and words are their prey.
In poetry-land, the metrical forces dominate the syntactic style, and they also ruin the 'stylometric hypothesis' for authorship. The same author writes completely differently in different meters. Here we can see e.g. Catullus and Statius are literally all over the map 🤪
this is "POS-masked" text, which, because it has the main content-words masked, is commly used for authorship attribution. However, 🚨POETRY IS NOT PROSE🚨 Here's what happens if you cluster in that space but colour by meter: (Plautus and Terence are huge outliers due to archaic language)

This has been murdering me, honestly. Doing an 'ok' job of masking Latin verse is not too bad, but trying to get as good as possible (within the limits of frontier POS tagging) is surprisingly fiddly. Lots of clitic issues (not even there yet with -ve and -ne) lots of general annoying 'stuff'
I am a huge fan of Maciej Eder's bootstrap consensus network visualisations, but mostly they are only available via stylo (R) + Gephi. So, I finally did the work to get a pure python version (yes, agentic assisted) that doesn't look like crap, and built it into my BDI package github.com/bnagy/bdi
