On Newstalk this morning with Jonathan Healy talking about the government's latest kite-flying. More and more people are dying on Irish roads, but instead of taking action to address that, they put out nonsense about mandatory registration for cyclists.
E-scooters are just another form of transport - like cars or motorbikes, they can be used irresponsibly, or they can meet a need for people going about their normal lives. We should enforce the laws we have to stop dangerous use of e-scooters, but we shouldn't criminalise e-scooter use.
Renewable energy and battery storage could work nationally to reduce fossil fuel use and save people money. But not if all the benefits go to data centres
The government and the gardai should be focusing on the e-scooter users that are a risk to themselves and others - and stopping illegal e-scooters at the point of sale. A blanket ban will hurt people who are doing nothing wrong.

Dublin City Council owns some buildings around the city that it just doesn't know what to do with, I visited some as part of the Buy & Renew committee. We need to get these buildings back into use, one way or the other - but we also need to stop them falling into dereliction in the first place.
When you come together with other people to work for a better tomorrow - that's when hope appears, that's when change happens.
Taking the cars out of Parliament Street has opened up the space for people - and in summer, for street parties!
An application has gone in to turn this closed gym into a family hub for homeless families. The usual suspects are telling lies about it becoming an IPAS centre. It's not true, just an excuse for them to spread hate and fear, but they don't care about the damage they do. We can be better.

Making streets safer for walking and cycling creates neighbourhoods where young and old can be more independent and active - and that builds better communities.
The playground on Walkinstown Green is being upgraded next week. Some equipment is being replaced, and new equipment is being added outside the existing space. Looking forward to it!

The public consultation on phase 3 of Cherry Orchard Point is starting, with a drop-in clinic in the Cherry Orchard Community Centre on Monday 8th, from 4-7pm. Go along to take a look at the plans, or see them on the LDA website (link in my profile).
Great news! The Active Travel team have started on the design for the greenway through Lansdowne Valley - work could start early next year. That would reopen the closed section, and allow people to walk or cycle through the park between Walkinstown and Inchicore.
