Saw this on a trip to New Hampshire a few days ago. A small bit of chestnut hope (they are trying to breed resistance into the American Chestnut)
This is also such a frustrating aspect, the secrecy. And, as someone who has witnessed abusive behavior from a PI to his staff, where can you really go? What's the best case scenario? They fire the guy and now the staff he abused are jobless (and if they're on visas they have very little time)?
www.science.org/content/arti... Despite being a circadian researcher, I'm bad at names (and, sorry, I haven't paid that much attention to last authors, being a "first author stage" person) so I only heard about this guy like two months ago. Happy to return to not knowing who he is.
I may not have those shoes in which to walk there, but I can still soothe my sorrows with fancy beers from the store down the block. You win some, you lose some.
I can't stop thinking about this melon that I had no idea was growing until yesterday's storm disheveled the leaves... She's so perfect. I must protect her at all costs
Sat outside for a while in a halfhearted attempt to acclimate for the incoming assault
There are so many fireflies in my backyard, this is awesome The neighbor's yard is "overrun" with jumpseed and I think it has formed a nice undisturbed place for them to do their thing, adorbs
Yesterday I cobbled together a patch for a hole in my backyard fence because some kids thought it very inviting. They did enjoy helping me water the garden, but man I cannot have unsupervised young children wandering around my yard, it is not child-proofed even slightly
Yesterday made a nice lil salad with lettuce, nasturtium leaves, and mint from the tower (dressing was my usual white and red wine vinegar, olive oil, and grainy mustard)
First backyard mai tai in Philly--it's hard to find good rum here, who'd've thought booze shopping was better in Georgia?
Hello I would like to report that it is perfect outside in Philadelphia
I saw one back in April and was enamored! So green! The little spots!
I'm tired of this website trying to make me Catholic (not on the JD Vance way, which I appreciate, but still)
If my landlord asks, what do you mean, that's always where the gravel extended to, nothing has changed, don't be silly
Me: *waiting at the light in a contraflow bike lane* Driver: you're going the wrong way, hun No...I'm not. (But it is admittedly an incredibly stupid intersection with an essentially unmarked bike lane, so I can see why she thought that.)
I straight up broke my glasses trying to clean them, Happy Friday 🫠 (Thankfully I'm a weirdo who sometimes suddenly hates the feeling of a particular pair of glasses on my face and had a second pair in my bag.)
