There are two spots open in the kid’s comics EXTRAVAGANZA summer camp at the Issaquah Community Center this August 3-14th! This is a half-day art camp diving into making comics, manga, and graphic novels for kids 8-12 years old. Registration ends August 3rd.

Had a wonderful time at the Seattle Astronomical Society’s public star viewing party in Snoqualmie last night. We got peaks of the stars between the cloud cover. Photos taken about an hour after sunset before total darkness rolled in.
Go Figure! meets tomorrow at 6:30 for the next themed event: POOL PARTY! (Without the pool) Join us at Blakely Hall in Issaquah Highlands for a summer-themed drawing session with a costumed model, props, and music/refreshments! All proceeds go towards the model and refreshments for future sessions!

Testing some new paper, pens, and pencils today doodling a montage of characters from Dinosaur Necromancer. Things generally went well, no ink bleeding which is always good!

Happy 5th birthday to kid-lit art postcard day created by artist Gina Perry. Theme is artists as themselves as a kid, and as a kid I would just draw comics with my cats in my room. Fast forward to present day, and I still draw comics in my room, but the cats have become dogs.

Happy to announce that I’ve been admitted into the National Cartoonist Society and am a new member of the Greater Northwest Chapter. Very excited to join the NCS, to work with peers on fantastic projects, attend even more comic cons, and further comic arts education in libraries and schools!
Every year a bunch of cartoonists and I visit Juneau, Alaska bringing comics and cartooning classes to schools across Douglas Island, Juneau, Mendenhall Valley, and Auke Bay. Enjoy the photos from the first few days plus the Mendenhall Public Library kick-off!
