got some new pottery ribs courtesy of one of the instructors at my studio- he is/was a carpenter for many years and made his own pottery tools! these are very nice and polished birch kidney ribs which are excellent for bowls and vases :)

i need this dog to stop trying to yeet himself out the window at 2am every day because the neighbor cats sit on the fence and MOCK HIM

here is one of my nieces on a flight as a baby cuz we had to go to my cousin’s funeral so how could you be an ass to this face (she loved the airplane) (i just wanted to share it cuz she was very round)

#pottery update: they were slightly more dry than i would like but i trimmed six bowls plus my chip & dip/cake stand (not pictured) i forgot which one was the big bowl in the picture and i don’t know if they’ll necessarily nest but hey bowls

saw a thing on tiktok about art ideas & they said show your workspace before & after. well i only have the before of this giant bowl i threw yesterday so far- about 5lbs of clay to make a bowl about 12 inches wide and four inches tall. it’s the mother bowl to a set of nesting bowls! #pottery

long time no #pottery update but finally back at the wheel after maybe 2 months or so? i’m taking a class to make matching dinnerware sets and this first day was platters and i had a good throwing day- 7ish plates: 2 big ones more small ones :)

the witcher had this problem with later seasons cuz the yellow contacts were also opaque so they were off putting and made henry cavill look like a potoo, i had to stop watching cuz it was too jarring (and i got bored lmao)

#pottery update: it’s been a while! but these finally got out of the firing and i’m pretty pleased with the results of how transparent some of the glazes are! i need to make labels or write on each wedge what glaze each one is tho & polish the back cuz they’re raw clay

oh the strainer as a push texture thing is so fun! i do it for flowers ever since i saw another artist do it for flowers on The Great Pottery Throwdown 😆 I like how you’re using it for the moss texture!

awww fluffy boy! also yes he’s got heterochromia and some merle color (my sister got him so idk where he got mixed in his line) but he goes so fast that idk if he is slightly blind in that eye. he IS a corgi so he knows his angles when he’s not being menaced by his friends

random #pottery update: i finally got around to making samples of how transparent our in-house glazes are with underglaze underneath since that is my favorite technique nowadays. One plate is bmix, the other is my favorite clay body Bravo Buff. i then realized i only numbered the insides so 🤞

jokes on her, even tho my sister IS getting a painting from me out of this deal, it is also a way to get dog photos from her in-laws (i am going to paint dogs for the twin’s bedroom.) this guy i’ve met before, his name is Onyx 😆

#pottery update: most of my whistle ZOO has come out of glaze firing and they all look awesome and they whistle! (the ones that are specifically whistles and ocarinas). I’m thinking about polishing the bare clay parts really smooth too I really like how manatee friend & big fish came out!

it looks CRAZY cuz ube condensed milk is so dark but it’s ladyfingers in ube coconut milk with a pandan mascarpone cream and i did three layers cuz the dish is big. All the components tasted good individually tho so hopefully it tastes good overnight!

this is why i like making the whistles i’ve been making in my musical ceramics class into little guys. THEY BASICALLY LIVE FOREVER i made another fish (and a quail i forgot to take a photo of) and look at his butthole lips

her stuff is so good! leslie has been one of my favorite sculptors for the longest time- i have a couple of her early Beastlies she made years and years ago (probably about 20) when she used to sell them at comic conventions in SF. so inspirational

we went to the SJMade Festival at the history park today and while i was able to get some cool stickers & artisan treats, i was unable to stop calvin from doing his favorite things: rolling around in stinky grass, asking for pets from strangers, eating grass while getting petted 😅
