saw some social media comments telling people to "demand answers" about wildfire smoke "smelling different" because of "chemicals in the air" so i looked it up. fun to learn new things instead of blaming it on the government or liberals or whatever!

However, when VOCs get released into the atmosphere and travel a great distance, the sun's ultraviolet radiation (UV rays) breaks down those chemicals, leaving behind a plastic-like, unnatural scent.

"The burnt plastic smell is linked to chemical reactions between UV rays and smoke compounds, leading to the formation of benzene and formaldehyde. The intensity of this odor depends on the concentration of these compounds in the air," Western Fire Chiefs Association said.

this is evil, like i don't think a right wing turn is even possible with thoughts like these. and this is the kind of shit being discussed internally while grim was prepping that stupid piece.

There is no indication her life fell apart after the incident. She said nothing about it and sounded perfectly normal in the interview. Compelling and convincing in fact. I don't think she sounded like a broken person.

This is how all victims describe a person who held them down and raped them, two years after the incident, when a close friend asks if she should date your ex. You're right. My bad. Let's bury the guy.

I can't believe anyone is disagreeing with this. Do you not think it's important to mention that the reason platner thought he could go to her place initially is because she was flirtatiously inviting him, and not cuz he planned to rape?

I don't believe he raped her. Not based on the basis of the available testimony. I don't think dehumanizing Graham and accusing him of something he didn't do is beneficial to any survivors anywhere.

The state’s highest court ruled Thursday that a ballot question that would cut the state income tax in Massachusetts cannot proceed to the November ballot, dealing a blow to business groups who had argued the state is too expensive for residents and businesses.
The battle over the ballot question has pitted members of the state’s business community against legislative leaders and unions who have said the proposal would slash state revenues to the tune of $5 billion a year.
The Supreme Judicial Court ruled Thursday that a summary of the ballot question prepared by Attorney General Andrea Campbell’s office was not “fair” because it did not inform voters that the question, if passed, would also cut the state’s long-term capital gains tax rate.
“The Attorney General therefore did not provide a ‘fair’ summary as required by [the state Constitution], and the initiative petition may not appear on the 2026 statewide election ballot,” Justice Serge Georges Jr. wrote for the court.
