Radical leftist scum. Academic advisor in TX. Elder goth, nerd, cat lover. Compulsive reader. I love opera & football, hate driving & early mornings. I need coffee before I can talk in the morning. Chaotic good.
#staycation day 5 started with physical therapy. He worked my legs hard! But I'm flying to the UK in 4 weeks from today for work so I need to prepare! No swimming today (I've done 6 miles this week). So getting a bite at one of my favorite places then doing some belated birthday shopping.
It's the most wonderful time of the year. (I don't care that it's preseason. Football is back.)
Day 2 of #staycation again had me waking up earlier than I planned. So I'm in my office relaxing with Marigold on my lap, reading, and a friend stopped by outside. Marigold is suddenly very interested in what's happening on the roof.
Several months ago our Air Force ROTC students gave me a challenge coin for their unit. I'd never heard of challenge coins before but have discovered they are (among other things) a sign of respect and recognition for supporting the organization. Today I received another challenge coin, for TREL.
Our local weather guy is trying to add some levity to our nasty forecast this week by putting the forecast in Celsius. My friends outside the US will appreciate this. It's still positively rude.
Yesterday was a fun and busy day doing birthday stuff! Today will be low key for sure. First up coffee then the weekly grocery run. Swim later. But yeah a quiet day. I love the coming fall season, football, shorter days, it's my favorite. Coffee is also my favorite.
Another July birthday weekend celebration. (Not mine, which is next weekend.)
3 matches on the multiview right now. Osaka won the first set against Sabalenka. The two men's matches are very entertaining. There will be 2 more hopefully entertaining matches beginning in about an hour. My favorite time of year.
Miss Marigold Muffin trying to sleep while I was doing my PT exercises this morning. She's now sleeping while I watch the tennis.
My quiet, peaceful start to a busy, hot day. Off soon to get my favorite tacos for breakfast.
Me yesterday and the rest of the summer (which lasts until mid November here). Stay cool and hydrated!
Sat outside during my lunch break today. It's quiet and the weather is very pleasant. A big difference from last Friday at this time when we were knee deep in commencement. (This is the bell tower of the Presbyterian Seminary across the street from my building.)
The graduating senior with the grade issue brought me a nice bottle of wine.
I like coffeeshops because I can pretend that I'm being social without actually having to talk to anyone. No one will bother me while I'm sitting quietly reading a book and no one will think I'm weird for doing so. Plus of course I can get coffee (and coffee adjacent drinks).
In my office because I've been awake about an hour and a half after working 12+ hours yesterday for graduation. Lovely day but I'm in my feels this morning. So loads of coffee it is.
Mimosa showing of Devil Wears Prada at Flix in Round Rock. Day 2 of 4 day weekend.
We as a people need to get out of the country more. (As an aside it's very sunny and mildly warm so am out at a brew pub for a bit.)
The air quality in Austin is terrible and we didn't get much rain (just a tiny bit of drizzle). But the temps are quite nice because of the cold front, so I do have my windows open. Dorian approves.
I'm home from the bookstores. Ended up with a few books. I'm in my pajamas with this moocher on my lap (he's fast asleep now so I'm stuck here until he decides to get up). Finishing up This Book Made Me Think of You. Still loving it. It was just what my wild chaotic brain needed. #Caturday
I have made my way downtown to Vintage Books. Picked up a Kate Atkinson book that's been on my I want to buy list for a while. And getting a beverage, as one does when there is a wine bar in your bookstore.
Took a little longer than expected (it feels like the whole campus is at the Crown and Anchor today although it is the last Friday of classes this semester) but a nice cold cherry sour has been acquired. Perfect for a very warm, very humid day.
The rain seems to have moved on. But it's chilly, grey, windy. I have windows open. I'm in my office with a blanket on my lap, my kindle, my (current) favorite tea (a really nice turmeric and chamomile blend) and Dorian sprawled across my lap. He's snoozing, enjoying this weather as much as I am.
