Honored to serve the hardworking families of Ohio’s 9th district. Longest-serving woman in history of Congress. Ranking Member on Energy & Water Appropriations. kaptur.house.gov
Happy to meet with Rusty Goebel and Ohio Soybean Association members in Washington. Always have an open door to hear their concerns and meet with them as they advocate for Ohio ag priorities, to ensure our important policy issues are addressed. Thank you for bringing a bit of Ohio to Capitol Hill!
Air quality levels across NW Ohio are hazardous as Canadian wildfire smoke spreads across our region. Public health officials urge residents to stay indoors as much as possible, to avoid negative health effects. Please stay safe, and seek medical attention if coughing or shortness of breath persist.
Honoring the life and legacy of Toledo resident Betty Ann Amison-Lewis. Betty looked for every opportunity she could to serve our NW Ohio community. As founding Director of Toledo's Grace Community Center, Betty devoted decades to others with the same grace for which the community center was named.
Welcome to the hardworking men and women of the United Steelworkers from NW Ohio and across our Buckeye State. I will always stand with workers in their fight for safer working conditions, better benefits, a secure retirement, and to ensure their right to organize.
We were told this undeclared war of choice on Iran would last 4 days—137 days later there is no end in sight. Now, a resumed US Naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is underway causing gas, diesel, and fertilizer prices to shoot back up because 20% of world trade flows through the Strait.
Since the start of the President’s war of choice in Iran, American consumers have spent an additional $56.4 Billion on gas—$477 per household. Hardworking NW Ohio families cannot afford these added costs.
ACA cuts caused the nation's largest loss in coverage in Ohio—with enrollment down 32.4%. The GOP cut your care and gave massive tax breaks to Billionaires. Hardworking families deserve and need access to affordable healthcare, not tax cuts doled out to the most well off.
NW Ohio’s Camp Lakota celebrated 75 remarkable years of service and 25 years of Ranger Patrick Bohn’s dedication. Thank you to Scouting America and Black Swamp Area Council for the opportunity to join you. All in attendance could truly feel the Camp Lakota Spirit ringing out for all to see and hear.
Great day at the Toledo Museum of Art as we celebrated 125 years of this incredible local institution and 250 years of our great nation. Was proud to share the museum’s story that I entered in the Congressional Record and present a flag flown over our United States Capitol. Thanks to all who joined!
Storm and flood damage across our eastern counties has homeowners, farmers, and first responders regrouping. In Jerusalem Township we discussed what resources are still needed and how to prevent future damage. Working to help those impacted get back to normal.
10,000+ FirstEnergy customers lost electricity during a heat wave this month, just a week after Ohio regulators rejected their request to loosen rules around how many power outages are considered acceptable. The blackout left our people without air conditioning as temps rose to 100° for days on end!
A great day to unveil the centerpiece of the Sandusky Bay Pathway, the Pipe Creek Bridge. This is the 5th mile of this new pedestrian and bike trail funded through a $24.5 Million Federal RAISE grant delivered for the City of Sandusky. An historic win for our people.
Such inspired leadership and energy in Paulding. Explored the village, visited with business owners, stopped by Black Swamp Nature Center and the new hospital expansion, and paid tribute to our veterans. Thanks to all for a warm, warm welcome!
Great day for NW Ohio as we unveiled new workforce housing at The Grand & The Glen. This $30 Million investment is a win for our local economy and hardworking people of our region. Thrilled to see these federal dollars returned home and to extend gratitude to all involved for dedicated partnership.
Honored to help NW Ohio Army veteran Kenneth Adams get his earned and deserved Combat Action Badge for his valorous service during Operation Iraqi Freedom that had previously not been awarded. Grateful to help rectify issues with his service record and present him with his badge this week.
Ohioans are opening their energy bills this summer to massive rate increases and sticker shock. This is simply unaffordable. The only thing rising faster than our utility bills are the bank accounts of data center and tech Billionaires while hardworking NW Ohio families are stuck paying the bill.
Always great to stop by Bud’s in Defiance for a cup of coffee and a slice of pie. Thanks to all for the warm welcome!
Celebrated America’s 250th birthday in true Ohio fashion by dotting the “i” on the #America250 Birthday Cake. Thank you to #DuchessofCameron for showcasing so much of what makes the United States so unique and special. Proud to live in this country and serve our people every day.
On July 5, 1935, Congress passed the National Labor Relations Act. It allowed workers to join and form unions. As the daughter of a union organizer, I know how collective action can change a family’s quality of life. Today we celebrate the labor movement and its fight for workplace rights for all.
As the United States of America marks the #4thofJuly, and 250 years of Freedom and Independence today, it’s an honor to celebrate the American experiment in so many ways across our NW Ohio communities. We lift up the greatness of America today and every day.
NW Ohio is under an extreme heat advisory for much of the upcoming July 4th Holiday weekend. Extreme heat affects everyone, but pregnant women, young children, older adults, and those with heart and lung conditions are the most vulnerable. United Way has resources available—call 211 to learn more.
It’s been more than a week since Congress passed bipartisan legislation to make housing more affordable—the bill is still sitting on the President’s desk waiting to be signed into law. We need haste to help hardworking American’s struggling to afford housing and achieve homeownership.
Today’s SCOTUS decision hands Billionaires, wealthy donors, and big corporations even more power to flood our elections with outside money. The system is rigged against NW Ohio—this makes it worse. I'm fighting to get big money out of politics and make sure hardworking voices across Ohio are heard.
Joined local partners to announce an $18.4 Million investment for drone production in Holland, Ohio which will create 300+ new jobs. This new NW Ohio facility is the first major assembly and manufacturing center here in the US as part of a $1.1 Billion Pentagon contract for Ukrainian Defense Drones.
With a heavy heart and deep gratitude, remembered the life of Sydney M. Boisselle. She proved impact is not measured in years, but in courage, character, and how you work to lift others. All those who loved her say she was pint sized and full of spice. In her final act, she gave the gift of life.
NW Ohioans know how important auto manufacturing is for our people and region. As a proud daughter of the UAW and Co-Chair of the Congressional Auto Caucus I work to protect and support this vital industry. Trade policy must lead to fair trade that puts workers first, and keeps jobs here at home.
The Billionaire Bonanza Bill resulted in slashing of health insurance for millions of our citizens and huge tax breaks for Billionaires, while our middle class is being kneecapped by rising prices on everything. Now they want to give $324 Billion to Iran? I wish the GOP would help Americans instead.
The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool doesn't have a vandalism problem, it has an engineering problem. First we replace fractured pipes underground. Second we stabilize lateral soil movement. Third we re-engineer shifting expansion joints. Fourth we address drainage issues. Together we can solve it.
Voted in favor of the most significant bipartisan housing bill in a generation. It blocks Billionaires from buying up homes, while allowing more homes to be built at lower costs. The President must put politics aside and swiftly sign this bill that makes homeownership and housing more affordable.
Nice to see you enjoying your time driving through Elmore in the heart of Ottawa County in NW Ohio. Safe travels and best of luck on your World Cup journeys.
