About another hour in and residents continue to slowly stream out. No one from the city has been aggressive after some hotheads got pushed out. It should be noted that members from Veterans for Peace have been here the entire time and hours before I got here. So that’s kinda cool.
Looks like news crews have moved on for the most part. That isn’t abnormal because generally they are overworked. Word also spread that the city was clearing a different encampment so it’s possible they went there.
Deleted previous video of this guy who is a HART employee trying to take down the barrier but is not the one that was being rascist. That was some other guy and I don’t know where he went/who he is.
What looks like St. Paul fire fighters pushing their way through without saying why they’re here. There’s been at least one fire fighter in here the whole time that everyone seems cool with because he’s talking to people. The aggressive ones left pretty quickly.
Camp defenders just kicked out some city employees who tried to enter. The employees came in and didn’t say who they were or why they’re here. There is some confusion about who is who with the city because all of them are wearing the same safety vests without identifiers.
Some of the signs posted around the camp. “Evict deez nutz” is my favorite.
This skid loader was eventually turned around when it tried to enter on a camp flank about an hour ago. It was super weird. Just a dude sitting inside the machine while a couple of city workers sat around and watched.
About an hour ago, St. Paul police tried to come in through this entrance on the camp’s flank, which is barricaded. Rep. Finke was able to deescalate the situation, getting city workers to agree not to move in. There’s about four cop cars just chilling here now. Second picture is the barrier.
This is one of the tables set up here that’s giving out water, food, bags and other items to camp residents. I’ve volunteered at one of the donation tables here a few times. Hit me up if you want to be connected to someone that can get you plugged into helping out at these encampments.
A camp defender tells me this guy was walking around on one the camp’s flanks threatening to arrest people, which is a weird thing to tell people when you aren’t a cop. His shirts says he’s with the St. Paul Fire Inspector.
Sign at the camp referencing the embattled St. Paul Mayor’s sexual harassment scandal. Apparently she flipped out on local officials asking for a delay of the sweep during a recent meeting. www.axios.com/local/twin-c...
Rep. Finke talking with city workers. The sweep is supposed to start at 8 am.
News crews have mostly set up in parking spaces about 60 yards or so from the entrance, which I believe is where the city asked the press and protesters to be. I’ll be documenting as the city moves in.
I’m here at the Fish Hatchery encampment in St. Paul as the city prepares to sweep the camp. St. Paul cops are stopping cars coming in but there are dozens of people that have gathered here in anticipation of the sweep in order to help camp residents and document what the city does here today.
Holy fuck that is a bad policy. Scared straight programs increase the likelihood that people commit more crimes. Why are led by donkeys. www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/redi...
At a protest in support of Minneapolis residents charged by the Trump regime DOJ for resisting an ethnic cleansing program and I see this dipshit show up.
These vehicles have recently been involved in ICE abductions in Minnesota. Please share with your friends and community.
Federal agents pepper sprayed protesters at the Warren Burger Federal Courthouse today. People had gathered to support the 15 indicted for resisting President Donald Trump’s ethnic cleansing program.
I am begging my fellow journalists to not go along with the government’s current red scare. Word usage is important and you can either help the government persecute political enemies or you can defend the communities you serve. Think about how whatever you do now will look like in 20 years.
If law enforcement speaks to you or detains you, tell them: “I am invoking my fifth amendment right to remain silent. I want to speak to a lawyer.” Do not have a conversation with them. They are gathering evidence against you. A lawyer is much better suited to represent you.
Several homeland security raids and arrests this morning in Minneapolis. DOJ to announce charges today.
Hello Minnesota, please keep a look out for these ICE vehicles known to have abducted people in the state recently.
Here’s a screen record I did if you do not want to click on the website.
Like, look at this shit. These people have lost their fucking minds.
Jury nullification is an act of resistance. I talked about it at the height of Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota. Please go to this event if you can.
