I may have got a bit carried away buying fumetti whilst in Milan last weekend.
I have to show this photo off. Slightly out of focus but still very proud of having met him briefly.
There’s a cafe on Lake Como that has Fumetti-themed sandwiches. I had the Eva Kant.
I continue to despair at the mistakes that seem to get through proofreading (and live in constant fear about the mistakes that get missed in my own work). I’m pretty sure that Elvis didn’t make his second film in 1947.
The Fantasy of the Deer Warrior is a fascinating children's film from Taiwan which is getting a Blu-ray release from @cultpix.bsky.social! I made a mini-documentary about Taiwanese cinema which is included on here. Very proud: klubbsuper8.com/en/article.p...

What is it with Hammer fans? Why are they constantly so snippy, critical of Hammer/ each other, trying to be more right than anyone else? Someone has made a nice video and tried to promote it, and the first comment is just typical of this kind of thing. Guys, let's all just watch films.
Another Carry On Blu-ray collection from @imprintfilms.bsky.social has just been announced! There are some great films in this set too. The team were firing on all cylinders. When we get to the set with Carry On England in it I might be less enthusiastic.
This is what Amazon Music is offering me this morning. How can I say no that lineup?

I have been putting on regular film screenings where I'm teaching here in China, which always have to be approved in advance. I've had Saturday Night and Sunday Morning turned down by the powers that be, but Who Killed Captain Alex? has been given the thumbs up. Make of that what you will.
My review of the @imprintfilms.bsky.social boxset release of the A Better Tomorrow trilogy is now available over on Cinema Retro: www.cinemaretro.com/index.php?/a...
Also coming from @imprintfilms.bsky.social is SHAW-SHOCK: SHAW BROTHERS HORROR COLLECTION - VOLUME FOUR (1981 - 1982) and THE SWORDSMAN COLLECTION (1990 - 1993)! It's an amazing time to be a fan of Asian cinema.
Exciting June release news from @imprintfilms.bsky.social, including SHAW-SHOCK: SHAW BROTHERS HORROR COLLECTION - VOLUME THREE (1980 - 1982) featuring the magical Hex trilogy!
Found this book on the making of Hero at the Beijing Book Fair today, which features behind-the-scenes pics and the full set of storyboards. Not bad for £1.50.
An absolutely fabulous and essential new boxset just announed by @imprintfilms.bsky.social - the first volume of a King Hu collection, featuring Come Drink With Me, Dragon Inn and A Touch of Zen in 4K!
A decade ago I finally completed my Monty Python vinyl collection, which began 25 years earlier. I thought. Today I read about an album I had never heard of, perhaps because it was a US-only release and I had been collecting them only when I found them in record shops. Ordered it on eBay.
Getting a Rondo Award nomination and receiving my first ever author royalty cheque makes this a pretty good week I think. You will be relieved to know copies of the book are stil available! www.fabpress.com/norman-warre...
