I was playing with my camera (Canon EOS M6 Mark II) in preparation for photography class tomorrow and caught this. It was around 7:30pm, so the light was very low and it was with a zoom lens. Still, it is so cool how these birds work together to feed the babies inside their house.
On this last Sunday before my sabbatical, I was given this mug and bracelet by our Vestry (lay leadership) along with a card signed by members and some other things. Clearly the caffeine on the Nutrition Facts needs to be increased. 😂 Love these folks and will miss them until I return in mid-Oct.

Once again I am indebted to Prof. Esmilda Abreu-Hornbostle for the opportunity to guest lecture in her business class at Montclair State University. These students had great comments and questions and it is also fun to revisit my pre-priest life for a bit.
Happy Easter! Jesus is no longer in the tomb, and I am going in (along with other clergy) and rolling over the stone for a few days of rest. The pics are from before the service and afterward.
Yesterday, my ecumenical colleagues and I ,joined by over 100 others, did a pilgrimage from Montclair to the concentration camp - Delaney Hall. The first stop was my parish, and that was the only leg some were able to do (including me, due to time on this sacred day)...

As we move deeper into the darkness of the tomb, this beautiful full moon tonight offers a glimpse of what is to come.
I joined again with so many at the Newton Green in my hometown, a very red area, to be a follower of Jesus - to defend the vulnerable, free the captive, and stand with the oppressed. What a message for us all in the body of Christ as we head into the holiest week of the year.
FedEx messed up the delivery of our ecopalms for Palm Sunday. Leveraging the gospel text, which has no palms in it - just cloaks and branches, I asked them to bring a coat to donate, and I'll cut branches. And, I will accept the generous offer of some palms from our neighboring parish for visitors.
And...it isn't a war, but an "excursion," and someone should tell him he meant "incursion." As defined "An incursion is a sudden, often hostile, entry into a place (an invasion or intrusion), whereas an excursion is a short, pleasant journey or trip, often for leisure." We are led by an idiot.

My girl is back home after dental surgery - no extractions! She was very brave. When I picked her up, the tech said "she moves so fast on three legs!" Don't I know it. Here she is ignoring me - I deserve it. You're a very good girl Lexi!

It was good to join my Methodist colleagues (and many seminary friends) on Capitol Hill today to stand for the suffering Christ in our midst. Met with Sen. Booker’s staff, and tried to meet with Rep. Gottheimer’s about ICE, Concentration Camp plans, and more.

I spent Presidents Day defending the Constitution along with lots and lots of others - today it was to protest the planned ICE Concentration Camp in Roxbury. The conversations warmed my heart and the advocacy of the people lifted my spirit.
