The 2026 mini series just doesn't work because the family is such a bunch of losers that the sociopath comes across as a character you can sympathise with. Plus, stretching a thin story to fill 10 episodes is plain nuts.
Both film versions of "Cape Fear" work because they're about a family that is likeable being terrorised by a sociopath. Even in Scorcese's remake, the family is flawed but likeable.
