We were delighted to welcome the Rhodes Class of 1976 back to Oxford for their 50th Reunion this June. Reunions are a cherished part of the Rhodes Alumni programme, bringing classmates back together to reconnect, reflect and celebrate while welcoming them to a transformed Rhodes House.

Last month, members of the UAE Rhodes community came together at an event at the Fiker Institute in Dubai. Rhodes Scholar Yifan Hou is a Chinese chess grandmaster, four-time Women's World Chess Champion and is currently ranked as the number 1 female chess player in the world. She is currently a professor at Peking University, while continuing her work in chess education and research.

We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Malcolm Whyte, who at the age of 105 was the longest-lived Rhodes Scholar. Malcolm built a distinguished career in medicine, research, and academic leadership, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1991.

Our new Warden Chrystia Freeland led a Sunday morning walk through University Parks with Scholars in Residence + Alumni spanning several generations. Along the way, conversations ranged from climate change, to finding a cure for cancer, to sovereign wealth funds, to the World Cup. Welcome Chrystia!

Rhodes Scholar Michael Sandel has been described as 'the world's most influential living philosopher,' and was recently awarded the Berggruen Prize, the world's most prestigious prize for philosophy. We recently welcomed him to Rhodes House to sign copies of his books for the Rhodes House library.

Last week we hosted the fourth Langar on Campus at Rhodes House in partnership with the Oxford Sikh Society and Sikh Rhodes Scholars. Langar is a Sikh community meal served to anyone free of charge, regardless of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity.
