It should be a t-shirt shape, and sit close to the body, so that it can also wick up armpit sweat. (This, indeed, was the origin of the t-shirt) It should not be white as this will show up under your dress shirt, but instead skin colour, with a deep v so it’s not seen with an undone top button
In the heatwave I’ve spotted a number of sweaty back patches on men in suits/shirts, and here we need to learn from the Americans; You need to wear an undershirt. They wick up the sweat and stop your shirt looking like this:
