We've even added a region today, active indefinitely, over the high plains where GSBs will take soundings more aggressively and closer to ground than is typical. I'd expect a decent percentage of these to also go to NOAA. Here's that region with the past week's GSB paths that passed through it.
WindBorne is here to help! These soundings, all completed from 00Z to 12Z 13 April, were all delivered to NOAA and assimilated in to GFS. Can't completely replace radiosondes, but it's certainly helpful.

I know next to nothing abt ML, but w/ Opus 4.6 I trained a little algo w/ GFS data on a dataset built solely on telemetry from 12 million GSB txs to predict where we shouldn't fly. Here's what that looks like for a couple flights. Brown dashes is our current simple algo's min height.

Update: I piped in the @mesonet.org Norman observations to interpolate the ~65m of missing data below our first balloon ob. More CAPE, less CIN. Less shear :(
This sounding was released at 1937UTC out of Norman. That's uh, a lot of CIN lol.
