I updated our chart on China's PV installation trends and implications thereof. China is indeed slowing. Ex-China has been steady at about 21% for 5 years. China could precipitously slow to the ex-China mean (which I doubt will happen), and we would still see many years of >20% global growth. 🔌💡

The origin of the Laffable Curve below, for those who do not know, was a cartoon on a napkin. There was no data to support it then. And there is still no data to support the idea that lowering taxes generates sufficient revenue to pay for the cuts. Still just a cartoon.

With the BNEF NEO 2026 now out, I pulled the annual PV installation data and ran our scenario model. The globe is still on track for 75-100TW in 2060. But BNEF has installation slowing down a lot soon. It is unclear why installation of the lowest cost energy source would slow so precipitously. 🔌💡
