Small Islands is the Game of the Week! Each island has its own quirks, but you gotta spread out to make the most of them. Make many little islands, or crank one up shine above the others. It looks great, but I need to play it more to get a feel for what it offers.
Ratzia is the Game of the Week! This cheese spends like money in the dank underground world of the Rat Mafia. Can you get what you need before the cops bust up the party?
Brown butter dark chocolate pecan cookies. They have a bunch of cinnamon in there too. Might be the prettiest cookies I've ever made!
Ended on two strong showings, The Invite and One Cut of the Dead. Now You Three Me is astoundingly bad. And Hoppers was...there. #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday
Fliptown is the Game of the Week! To mark my finishing of Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West by Cormac McCarthy, I'm playing a game that has less blood, depravity, and piss & sulphur black powder. But it is as cute as a button, boy howdy!
Got some movie magic (Backrooms), bad movie magic (Now You See Me and Now Two See Me), and some perfect real magic (Ricky Jay and His 52 Assistants). #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday
Played Bean Trader (Bohnanza is a favorite of Tessa's). Doesn't unseat the original, but it was an interesting spatial twist!
Please...my son, he's very sick* *got poop on his butt and refuses to walk home
Ubungo is the Game of the Week! Race to solve your own polyomino puzzle! That's it! You aren't solving the same puzzle, so the race aspect is kinda weird. Not my favorite, but I liked making this week's sticky note!
Wild finds thrifting today. The Mage Wars box has so many expansions in there.
When my wife and I go to the library just to pick up items on hold, I have to slip away without George noticing or else he's unconsolable. It's 30 seconds, bud!
Yura Yura Penguin Mini is the Game of the Week! It's heating up in Utah with multiple wildfires, so I'm cooling down by building a home for these adorable penguins...whose ecosystem is collapsing due to climate change...huh. It's almost like "politics" are inextricable from the world we live in!
WHOZIT? is the Game of the Week! Is Godzilla more likely to go to the spa frequently than the youngest player in the room? Can Abraham Lincoln assemble IKEA furniture? Both very relevant and normal questions!
The Choice is the Game of the Week! Quite the name for a pretty unassuming roll 'n' write where you roll dice and use them as colors OR numbers. Such agonizing choices! My heart cannot handle it! AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Wallamoppi is the Game of the Week! Think Jenga isn't stressful enough? How about if you have a marble clanking down some ramps while you stack and you have to catch the marble before it falls into a pit? That's Wallamoppi, baby!
Polyominoes til I die. Probably from getting run over by a car getting this picture taken, but at least there's a crosswalk here now! Incredibly grateful for the Love Your Block program for helping us make this happen.
Cascadito is the Game of the Week! I really enjoyed Cascadero, so seeing it reimplemented in a dice game is definitely right up my alley. But can it create enough contrast to stand out? I'm excited to find out!
Fairy Trails is the Game of the Week! Two players carve secret paths through the forest, each trying to find homes for their gnome and fairy families. Uwe Rosenberg goes small!
Damn! I know the art isn't for everyone, but it really works for me, especially Stellarion.
