Check your bowels, guys. After years of problems, a rather unpleasant sigmoidoscopy procedure today diagnosed diverticular disease. Rather that than anything more sinister! God bless the NHS though; all free (i.e paid for by my taxes), and each specialist had a smile, good humour & kindness.
Incredible scenes watching this IRL this afternoon. BBC News - London Diamond League results: Josh Kerr smashes men's mile world record - BBC Sport www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athlet...
At the London Olympic Stadium for the London Athletics Meet 2026 #LondonDL @diamondleague.bsky.social
Yes! The plus side of this incredible heat and sunshine, this year my garden tomato crop is coming in properly. Last year they stayed green on the vine and I had to make a chutney from them. #Homegrown
All the things at once. Trying to double screen #Wimbledon and #FIBA qualifiers at the same time. Come on GB basketball, and let's have Djokovic beat the Russian.
Well done Fery !! Epic match tonight (which I watched from home), but I saw him this week at the tournament IRL, playing Otto Virtanen. Amazing wildcard GB, making opportunities, and now in top 100 players #Wimbledon 🎾
Incredible to be able to get resale tickets at Wimbledon yesterday to witness Serena Williams playing. She put up a huge effort to challenge Maya Joint; the younger player eventually taking the 3rd set to win. What a legend though.
Great - HOT AF - day at the Wimbledon Qualifiers in Roehampton yesterday (I was spotted on the telly apparently). Saw a few GBR players - including Dan Evans, and Paul Jubb, respectively win their matches. Well done, fellas.
Billy Nomates, and Soul II Soul were absolute highlights and long sought-after live gigs, today @mertoncouncil.bsky.social #StartOfTheLine festival ♥️
Very much looking forward to digging into @helenebismarck.bsky.social's new book, Fantastic Kingdom, in the coming days. It's just arrived :)
Saw a Saga single issue (#43) in local @thebhf.bsky.social charity shop, which always gets lots of (likely one individual's) comics and graphics novels. Read it before digitally but nice to own in hardcopy. #ComicSky
Finally home after a brilliant 2 days supporting the Chartered Institute of Fundraising's Let's Talk podcast at the annual convention and awards. I did find 5mins to read though....
I find it "interesting" that once again BBC News has led with a story with Reform voter dog whistles. It's on migrant phone shopkeepers running operations which "fund smugglers and small boats". It's similar to one on legal advisors "coaching migrants to pose as gay" in order to seek UK asylum...
It's always a great day at the Super League Basketball playoffs, and an antidote to the political, culture war divisiveness going on the background. Pledging to myself to expend more energy in fun stuff - and to supporting the London Lions all year round! 🏀🦁
It's arrived! @stephenwaddington.bsky.social & Ben Verinder's new book, 'AI for Public Relations', joins my well-read FuturePRoof no. 6 (AI tools for PR) as part of my reading list. & just for the irony / old school touch, I've laid them next to my trusty & battered Filofax - which I use everyday.
Reading Csikszentmihalyi's 1990 classic, 'Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience', & can't help but attach some of his thinking to the prolific use of AI now. Ppl are outsourcing their happiness - & cognitive ability; & becoming miserable as they give away the enjoyment of learning to machines.
Okay - this rayu, made by friends of friends - is well nice on avocado on toast, with a lentil, tomato, mustard, & dill salad on the side. What you having for brunch?
Kanji and vaporwave aesthetic continuing to represent in mainstream fashion....these in Sainsbury's:
Joined MC Till's Everybody's HipHop community, finally. My go to for new boombap every month 🎧. Chipping in where I can - discovered loads of new hiphop artists and releases from Till.
Can confirm the cassette-boxed USB plug and play version of Nobody Here looks amazing in HD in my telly.
Some evening Mac Lacrosse / @occams-laser.bsky.social in the form of 2023's Truth Decay. Love side 2 in particular.
Another fun fact, I love cooking - and here is tonight's "scruffy lasagne".
Fun fact, my journey into loving synthesised music - which would ultimately lead me to synthwave and vaporwave - began in the late 1980s when my parents took us to the Ideal Home Exhibition in London, and at one point there was a huge laser light show set to Jean Michel Jarre music. It was profound.
As briefly referenced in the new Nobody Here doc [now in SD on YouTube for free!], the *first* 2814 album sounds amazing in the sunshine. This was the precursor to the legendary 'Birth of a New Day', but is still lovely. Watch Nobody Here, free: youtube.com/watch?v=6kNq...
