This is how I described Cassidy in a 2014 Politico piece: 3/7 www.politico.com/story/2014/1...
From Politico Playbook. The Blanche nomination is now in Bill Cassidy’s hands.
You know who hasn't said a single word in defense of Dr. Fauci after last week's travesty of a Senate hearing? This feckless, useless coward:
Many thanks for the thumbs up, Gambit Weekly! www.nola.com/gambit/news/...
I was grateful for this prayer this morning. Extremely difficult words, but I needed them—and needed to speak them—and to remind myself of the demands that my Christian faith makes on me. It's not easy to pray it. It's quite hard, in fact. But it's an essential part of the faith. 1/2
Criticize Graham’s deplorable public record and his awful ethical and moral decisions all you want today. He has it coming 100%. But please think twice before sinking to Trump’s level and celebrating a person’s death. We’re better than that and today’s a good day to prove it.
Once again, the Louisiana Supreme Court proves there is one set of rules for the well-connected and a different set of rules for the common folk. This court would never move so quickly on behalf of a non-crony of the governor.
There seems to be considerable confusion about what powers Gov. Jeff Landry has to pardon AG Liz Murrill. This attorney quoted in the New Orleans paper seems to have an understanding of the process that doesn’t quite comport with the language of the statute. www.legis.la.gov/legis/LawPri...
Also, this is as close as one could get to the People’s House last week. Disgraceful.
Had a great time tonight in Alexandria, speaking to the Cenla Writers Club about my book “You Are My Sunshine: Jimmie Davis and the Biography of a Song.” And it was a treat to visit with legendary journalist and country music historian Robert Gentry.
Cassidy: "I'm not going to be bullied." Cassidy, a few hours later . . . 1/2
Had a blast with my favorite son today, watching England play Ghana in the World Cup in Boston. Sadly, it was a 0-0 tie. But the real win was taking him to the game for his birthday. Lots of memories made!
The Scots here for the World Cup have decorated most of the city’s statues. Bostonians appear to be amused—or at least tolerant.
I'm looking forward to representing Louisiana at the 2026 National Book Festival on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Washington Convention Center.

I was informed by many savvy people that once he was past the election, Bill Cassidy wouldn’t vote the same way as Letlow or Fleming on issues like this.
Bill Cassidy believed in trying to stop Trump’s insurrectionust slush fund—just not enough to really do anything about it. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/04/u...
