Congresswoman Robin Kelly
@robinkelly
Proudly serving Illinois' 2nd Congressional District since 2013
Today, we honor the servicemembers who made courageous sacrifices for our nation’s security. National Purple Heart Day reminds us all to remain committed to ensuring our veterans and their families receive the support they deserve. Thank you for your service.
I visited Hope Center Foundation's new campus on the Far South Side this week. Three floors built to help more neighbors find jobs, housing, and a fresh start. Grateful to see this kind of growth rooted in our community.
On this day 61 years ago, the Voting Rights Act became law. These rights were hard-won. Those same rights are under attack again. Congress must pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to protect them for generations to come.
Happy birthday, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social! Thank you for your leadership of @housedemocrats.bsky.social, ensuring that people are put over politics, like expanding access to health care and fighting for equity daily!
Wishing my dear friend @BarackObama.bsky.social a happy 65th birthday! America couldn’t be prouder of your service, and Illinois couldn’t have asked for a better son.
61 years ago, our country came together to create Medicare and Medicaid, giving generations of Americans the chance to get healthcare and live with dignity. Now Trump and Republicans are attacking both programs and the people who depend on them, all to give trillions in tax cuts to the wealthy.
Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. FULL STOP
100 days from now, Americans will make their voices heard. One thing is clear: affordability remains the top issue for millions of families. @housedemocrats.bsky.social and I are fighting to lower costs, expand access to affordable healthcare, and build an economy that works for everyone.
Trump and Republicans had a choice: help hungry kids or hand more tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations. They chose the wealthy. Families in Illinois are paying for it.

Trump promised to lower costs on Day One. Instead, working families are paying more for everything from groceries to summer fun. His reckless agenda is driving up costs when families can least afford it.
The House passed my bipartisan Action for Dental Health Act! Why this bill matters: ✅ Oral health is key to overall health. ✅ Preventive care reduces out-of-pocket costs. ✅ Community care addresses disparities head-on. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to pass it.
Remembering the Aurora tragedy 14 years ago. 12 lives lost, 58 injured. Congress's inaction on gun violence is unacceptable. I'll always fight for commonsense reforms to keep our communities safe.

The American people want affordable groceries, lower housing costs, and safer communities, not another war overseas. Donald Trump promised no new wars. Instead, he chose a war with Iran and has repeatedly violated the ceasefire.
I voted to block $3.3B in unconditional military aid to Netanyahu. Netanyahu himself said he doesn't need our financial support. And I agree. Our federal budget must reflect our deepest values and protect human rights.👇🏾
For nearly a century, handguns have been barred from USPS mail to keep us safe. Now we know why the Trump Administration wants to rip up that rule: to line his family’s pockets. We cannot let President Trump gut background checks just so his family can profit.
📈 Inflation is up. 📈 Grocery prices are up. 📈 Energy bills are up. 📈 Healthcare premiums are up. Make no mistake: Donald Trump is FAILING to deliver on his promise to lower costs for hardworking families. Everyday Americans cannot wait while this administration refuses to act.

All families deserve to see a doctor without fearing government surveillance. According to a court filing, HHS leaked Medicaid data to ICE, violating the privacy of Medicaid enrollees and putting the health and wellbeing of millions at risk. 🧵
Republicans are celebrating one year since the Big Ugly Law, a horrible piece of legislation that steals from hardworking people and gives more to the wealthy. In my district alone, 27,000 people will pay more for their healthcare, while another 31,000 people could lose their coverage entirely.
From neighborhood playgrounds and forest preserves to the Pullman National Historical Park, our parks connect us to nature, our history, and each other. I'm proud that Illinois' Second District is home to so many incredible places to explore this National Parks and Recreation Month.
Republicans cut Medicaid by $880 billion. It’s cruel. It’s evil. It’s against our mandate as public servants. I will not remain silent while Republicans continue to take away healthcare access. Medicaid saves lives. Period.
Imagine what we could accomplish if Republicans and Trump put Americans first instead of wasting billions on chosen wars and vanity projects. That money could strengthen our schools, lower costs, expand healthcare, and invest in our communities.
I've heard from too many seniors who are worried about gun violence, Medicaid, and Social Security. After a lifetime of hard work, they deserve security and peace of mind.
Millions of Americans are struggling to afford basic necessities and a roof over their heads. Meanwhile, Trump says the housing affordability crisis is “so unimportant” and “a big yawn.” He can barely manage to stay awake—much less lower costs for Americans.
Thank you to the APA for the 2025 Jacob Javits Public Service Award. I will continue my fight to ensure every family can access the healthcare and substance use care they need.
Reminder! This Wednesday, July 8th, I will host mobile office hours at the Rantoul Business Center. If you need assistance with a federal agency, my staff will be there to assist you. Learn more: robinkelly.house.gov/about/events...
As we mark the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we reflect on the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity that define America. We also recognize the gap between those ideals and lived reality for many. I will continue fighting to ensure everyone can fully share in them.
