Jess O'Thomson has fought far harder than most of us and deserves better than this disgusting transphobia. What's the difference between this rhetoric, and TERF rhetoric suggesting that binary trans people aren't truly discriminated against because we can just detransition?

example from the Marty Supreme page, since that's a currently popular movie with a dog in it (it survives fyi) I'm not going to pretend this person's distress wasn't real and they're absolutely allowed to feel this way about the film but... how does this kind of approach help? Who is this for?

I think the dog storyline was pointless and I did not consult this app before seeing. As soon as the bathtub falls, close your eyes and ears. While there is technically no animal abuse, the language surrounding the dog was offensive and upsetting to me, "fuck that dog" etc. Marty also gives the dog what I imagine is alcohol and ice cream when they are in the car. I would not watch the movie again but I am extremely triggered by animal abuse and found it only a 5/10.

Bluesky's problem as a website is that it's filled with people like this, utterly joyless and miserable and also so pompous and lacking in self-awareness that they say shit like this and think they're dropping some kind of truth bomb when they're just being obnoxious bores
