Holy shit I got a callback! For the role of Jesus in Reefer Madness, which is great because I already have experience playing a sexy Jesus onstage. Maybe it's a good thing that I got too sweaty and took my shirt off during my audition lol.

I left this comment on a post where a professional artist was showing off his AI slop. At this point, my anger at AI has turned towards despair over what humanity is losing to this evil machine.

Why outsource your beautiful human mind to a machine that feels no joy or love for the act of creation? Why give up your own unique voice to a machine that can only echo? What is the point? Why go into a creative field if you don't even see the wonder in your own creativity? AI robs you of this joy and leaves a cold facsimile in its place. AI is a tool for the tech oligarchs to make you forget how to use your own mind. I beg you not to fall for it.

My name is Ro Salarian. I am a queer, trans, nonbinary creator who makes adult content. Since 2013, I have funded nine projects through your platform as a solo creator, and many other projects through groups I've been part of. I'm not a stranger to you.

So. Here we are. You've sent out an email to us NSFW creators with your new, confusing guidelines around sex. You've told us that we're allowed to create erotica... just so long as nothing actually erotic happens. No explicit sex, no genitals, no penetration, no even implying it, and even self-censoring isn't enough. Anything that might cause arousal is out. If I have this wrong, please feel free to enlighten me on what you mean to say here, because I've got a few thousand other artists all reading it the same way I did. What do you think "spicy" means? What do you think "erotic" means? Because it means sex. Not just implied. Not a fade to black when the real action starts. People read "spicy erotica" to arouse themselves, to get off, to inspire sexual pleasure and orgasm.

Listen, I know that a lot of this comes down to the credit card processors, but your company has infinitely more money and power to fight censorship than us individual creators, who are often existing on a razor's edge of poverty. Creating adult content has long been a way for poor people to keep the lights on. You have millions of dollars. I have $300 in my bank account. Why am I spending more time, energy, and money on fighting this fight?

I understand that not complying means risking the whole thing going down, but I am tired of being an acceptable loss. I am tired of being asked to understand why I had to be evicted, so as to protect other creators who are never asked to do the same for me.

You're not the only company being screwed over by these same payment processors. Other companies have been fighting. Some have been winning. I suggest you ally yourself with those people and pool your resources.

Kickstarter officially banning adult content now. Knew this was coming, but it still sucks to have yet another part of the internet that I've been explicitly evicted from. Digital gentrification is exhausting.

Screenshot of Kickstarter's new rules against mature content, in which everything pornographic is banned. It's a long document that's formatted in a way that I can't copy and paste all the text that's in it, but the first is that all point and anything sexual is now banned.

This part of the document outlines how even self censoring your own work will not work, because even the implication of sex is too much. Even in prose works.

This document is confusing because it says that erotic comics ARE allowed... you just can't show sex acts or genitals or try to arouse people. Also you can make sex toys, just so long as they're not for sexual gratification.

This is how Kickstarter's email began:

"Hello,
Kickstarter has always been a home for bold, boundary-pushing creative work, including mature content projects like romance novels, nude art books, and provocative comics. Creators working in this space are a valued part of our community, and that hasn’t changed." And yet it definitely has changed.
