I'm finally watching The Apartment by Billy Wilder, starring Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon. MacLaine is an electric screen presence. Her performance is perfectly subtle. She speaks volumes with a slight twist of her lips.

I'm now at the "draw the rest of the owl" stage for a new cosplay. I also recently learned that "Ars longa, vita brevis" doesn't really mean that art outlives your life, it means that learning how to make art takes longer than your life, which isn't quite as inspiring, but is very real. Very real.

This is me in costume with my fellow extras for the opening scene of Poe being found outside Gunner's Hall. It was really interesting to see how different actors worked the scene with minimal prep time. They were all super nice and I think were amused by me taking selfies. 🧵

Here is the second day of filming at the big studio to shoot all the host segments with Josh Gates. The "execs" were on set that day and everything was much more business-like. 🧵

On the left is me and the two ruffians who kidnap and "coop" Poe. On the right is me and the actor playing Poe's doctor at his death bed. I learned so much from all these actors who were so interesting and creative. 🧵

Here is the coffin shot being set up. This was part of my day 1 of shooting in the small studio. This was a full day of shooting with the crew. It was fun and congenial. Everyone really impressed me in how efficient and creative they all were. 🧵

Here I am as dead Poe. He wouldn't have been in a nice suit or even a nice coffin, but it needed to look dramatic, ya know? This was shot right after lunch and I was very burpy when I finally sat up. 🧵

2. The Kanabo is a PVC pipe with a pool noodle jammed on the top half. The pool noodle is shaved into shape with cosplay foam clay on the top and bottom to make the shape. The handle has cosplay foam dowels wrapped around it to make the carved rings.

The body is a foam muscle suit that I made on top of underarmor. The skin is thin stretchy mesh material stretched over the foam muscles then painted with mask latex. Then I airbrushed the latex for the color and hand laid on the body fur.

The horns were plain 3D printed horns something like this picture. I built up all the texture on them also using clay. All the LED's in the whole suit are COB orange LED's run through a circuit to make them pulse slowly.

Overview: The head is made on a resin base cow fursuit head that I bought way back during covid. I built up the face using cosplay two-part clay and added a jawset made for a wolf head. I made the hair with two wigs and black fur on top of green foam to build out the shape correctly.

I dont like adding more bulk to the waist area, but at least the soundbox isn't too noticeable. It flops a little when I walk, though.

I loved this remote controlled remote control at the robotics display.

I finally was able to perk up at the con. Having the panic attack exhausted me for like a solid hour afterwards. But we saw some of our cosplay friends and robots so the day wasn't wasted.
