On this day in 2023, what a bird!, my second first for Britain on the same day, after seeing Stejneger's Scoter in the morning in Fife.
I found this cracking Hoverfly at Messingham Sand Quarries on Friday, it turns out it's a first for Lincolnshire 🔥🔥🔥
Another enjoyable visit to the local patch today, 78 species seen and 2 NFY, which included 3 Yellow Wags and the lovely sight of 6 adult Med Gulls together!. 135 for the year now here. #Patchbirding #UKbirding
A brief clip of today's Raven at Goxhill on my local patch, 4 NFY today included 2 male Cuckoo, 2 male Lesser Whitethroat, 4 male Sedge W and 7 Whimbrel. Other bits incl. 2 fem. Wheatear, LRP, SEO, Caspian Gull and 3 booming Bitterns. 7 species of butterfly also today as well a Grey Seal.
Hi @jengill.bsky.social have you any ideas as to where this Ice Black-tail may have been ringed please?. I have never seen one before with same colour rings on both of the legs and only numbers. Thanks in advance.

Just received ringing details back on the recent 2nd calendar year CR Caspian Gull on my local patch at Goxhill Haven on 7th March.
Lovely few hours this evening on the local patch at East Halton, highlights included 3 NFY species, Avocet, Great-crested Grebe and a lovely male Little-ringed Plover.
A nice find on the local patch near Goxhill Haven this morning, proper rare these days sadly.Other highlights, included my first Sand Martins of the year.
A few from today's walk from Keswick up to Ashness Bridge along the banks of Derwent Water. Best birds seen went to a pair of Mergs.
Not my best work, but we got some lovely views of this Red Squirrel this morning at Aira Force in Cumbria. Point blank views of another later, was just too quick for the camera. I don't know who was more surprised, us or the Squirrel.
