13/13 seems fitting to end a thread appreciating a black cat on 13. I love Grizz. He's a happy little guy - his tail is almost always straight up and vibrating with excitement, he is full of purrs. He's my sweet boy. Happy birthday, little guy.

Because some cats have to see what's going on, some game nights we move a cat tower next to the dining room table so a cat can SEE without getting on the gaming surface. So in this pictures, Grizzly is curled up on top of a carpet covered cat tower placed next to a table that is set up with ALL the frosthaven. So much frosthaven.

A black kitten (we think it's a kitten. it's black, furred, and equipped with SHARP CLAWS) is inside a cardboard 'house' shaped like a milk carton. Front legs have reached out through the round opening and have latched onto a large kicker toy. The kitten is attempting to pull the kicker toy into the cardboard house and is not having a lot of success because geometry.

Grizzly being an absolute icon. The bag he crawled into was full of the paper bags now on the floor in front of him. He decided he was getting too many pets and just shoved himself into the bag, kicked the other bags out, turned around and became inscrutable void in a den.

Uschi, BSH, came from a mildly unethical breeder. I did not know better. * her muzzle is too short but she doesn't need an operation to breathe * her jaw doesn't have enough room for her teeth * unlike Persians, she has enough nose that when she eats food doesn't go into her eyes

A British Shorthair cat -- the breed was brought back from the edge of extinction after WW2 by crossbreeding with Persians.
Short muzzled cats (and dogs) are often plagued with various health problems not limited to labored breathing, overcrowded teeth, getting food into their eyes while eating, more eye / nasal discharge than non brachycephalic breeds which requires cleaning to prevent infections, etc. In severe cases, the animal may required surgery to open airways or dental extractions for quality of life.

Grizzly has one thing to say to people setting of fireworks in residential areas. 'the *fuck* is wrong with you?' my poor scared guy. And this is after calming treats.

It's exhausting just existing right now. Uschi hopes everyone gets a good sleep sometime soon. Except for Grizzly. Little brothers deserve exhaustion (per Uschi)

She's mostly sprawled on top of the light grey felt desk mat, but she's also pinned down the mouse cord with her hind feet. She has completely eschewed the folded cashmere throw on the corner of the desk, presumably because that's not in any way inconvenient for the human. Unlike pinning the mouse down and flopping a front leg across some function keys.

18/? We have a few moments of peaceful interactions. Which is nice. Unfortunately, Grizzly is quite bonded with me and is generally close by. Because Uschi doesn't like him, she avoids him (and me by extension) so I don't have as many recent pics of her.

17/? Interactions like this is why Uschi doesn't like Grizzly. I understand it, but it still breaks my heart. Maybe one day all the co-feeding of treats and play time will work.

16/? Uschi doesn't really speak cat. Remember she came to us at not yet 8 weeks old. I'm not sure she socialized with any of the other cats at her breeder's at all. Grizz is well socialized, but Uschi doesn't understand. And... little kitten brothers are still pests, even if well socialized.

15/? Introductions were slow. Grizzly has no chill, so we did introductions in a harness to prevent him from mobbing her. He so wanted to be friends. She so wanted nothing to do with him. We eventually put a belled collar on him she would know where he was. In theory.
