This person is a becerra stan, which I know because I am friends with them. But I cannot fathom how they think this post is going to get people to vote for him, a, because it doesn’t even mention him, and b, because it’s just so aggressive.

I am a member of Indivisible Westside LA.

First, I'm writing to ask that you demand that ICE release every single child in detention right now.. These places are not safe for children, not to mention that the Trump administration is violating the Flores Settlement by regularly keeping kids imprisoned in them for longer than 20 days. ICE needs to be abolished and replaced, but until then I expect Congress to codify all of the demands on Democrats' list, and that's at the bare minimum. I, and the majority of Americans, support you in voting down any new DHS funding until that happens.

Second, Trump has unilaterally taken us to war with Iran. I was 16 in 2001 and 18 in 2003. I do not want another forever war. Congress needs to do its job and stop him by bringing a war powers resolution for a vote, voting yes, and taking back your power.

Lastly, you need to start speaking out for impeachment loudly. Now. If you can't do it now I have no faith that you will be able to change course if Democrats regain the majority. There is no need for investigations; we know Trump is violating the constitution daily. Just do it.

LA Times homepage this morning. While it's true that the No Kings protests are in smaller boxes, I'd argue that Trump closing a major freeway for no reason is going to do a lot to piss off the minority of Californians that support him.

These 3, which are further down, are so deeply awful that I don't even understand. I have so much less time as a parent to actively fight things. I'm so glad to know so many caring, childfree people (whether by choice or not).

How about this: you go have a kid and then ~3 years from now come back and tell me I'm wrong and that there's no causal linkage here, you're just as willing to give up on the world when you're 2 year old is trying to tell you about his day in adorable broken English.

It's not about civic virtue, it's about maternal/paternal instinct and a greater willingness to suffer yourself than to let a loved one suffer.
Marriage/relationships can do this too, but other adults can also be responsible for themselves, easing the responsibility on you.

Parenthood changes your life in outlook in myriad ways. This is just one of them. You wouldn't know because you haven't experienced it, which is fine, but every parent in this world remembers what it was like not being a parent.
