The Star Tribune is blaming the forest service, but I’m dubious. But anyway, a clear retraction, the BECAW is only closed through July 24 for now.

U.s. forest service officials explained Wednesday that permits for the boundary waters canoe area wilderness continue to be canceled through July 23 only.

An earlier Star Tribune report that the closure date was extended to October was based on an update from the forest service.

I bought my friend Naomi’s book on Tuesday and finished it that night. I gave it to my daughter in law to read and she just finished it. Fair to say it’s a page turner!

If you were wondering it takes about 2.5 hours to brown 4 quarts of mirepoix and 11 pounds of lamb. Getting close now.

My current spoon is actually a butter spreader. From a blank that was bone dry and sat in my carving tool bag for two years forgotten. I soaked it in water for 30 minutes and it’s honestly been easy to carve.
