Got a really cool book today! Published in 1890 with a handwritten flower record from 1902, and even some pressed leaves that I assume are from about that time. It’s meant to be a botanical guide for children. So many great illustrations in it.

Northern Flickers with chokecherries 🪶 🐡

Thinking about THE GREEN KNIGHT recently

Digital artwork based off Sir Gawain and the Green Knight: a headless rider clad in green and red rides a rearing horse. He is holding a large axe wedged in the ground with a crown hanging from it. There are decorative winding leaves coming from the armor and horse.

Today I have found more nice plant photography, this time from a 1926 catalog called "Our Glory Bloom the Peony" that waxes poetic about Mother Nature's greatest gift, the peony, for 8 pages, complete with poems, before finally listing their available varieties. I'm very charmed by this.
