I can't believe that Dwell has been out in the world for nearly two months! It has been wonderful to hear from people who have read and enjoyed it, and to see it in bookshops, and read reviews. Here is a reminder of the opening of the novel, in the wonderful video from Alistair's Wonderland
I’ve just taken the very last proof of Dwell to The Beverley Bookshop. Gorgeous shop & had a great chat with the bookseller. I’ve really enjoyed my trips to Yorkshire bookshops the last couple of months. Booksellers are great. Brilliant to know Dwell is getting out there @northodoxpress.bsky.social
Here are some more endorsement quotes for my novel Dwell from some more wonderful writers Dwell came out about 3 weeks ago and is available from Waterstones, Bookshop.org & other places @karenpowellwrites.bsky.social @bookbound2019.bsky.social @carolynmanc.bsky.social @northodoxpress.bsky.social

There’s a piece about Dwell in this month’s York Local Link! It’s got lots of information about me and my new novel and it’s coming through every letterbox in the area @northodoxpress.bsky.social
The Northodox summer sale ends tomorrow. Until then you can go to Northodox.co.uk choose some books (including Dwell, my novel of gay love after war), use the code SUMMER26 and get 25% off the bill! @northodoxpress.bsky.social
Today’s proof drop was at Waterstones in Monks Cross shopping centre just outside York. Lovely shop, lovely staff, lovely and cool and book-scented inside! Dwell is about queerness, oppression and mental health struggles. And it is about love @waterstones.bsky.social @northodoxpress.bsky.social
Menagerie Street just came through my letterbox! It’s the debut solo poetry collection by the wonderful Hilary Watson whose poetry has been delighting me for over ten years. So glad to hold this and can’t wait to read it! @poetryhilary.bsky.social @serenbooks.bsky.social
Dwell stands on the shoulders of the brilliant @northodoxpress.bsky.social Northodox Press books which came before it. This week they are seeing out Pride month by having a sale. Buy any of these historical fiction titles from Northodox.co.uk using the code SUMMER26. Other genres available too!
On Saturday I went into Waterstones York to sign copies of my novel Dwell! It was great to see it on the table near the door. It was a bit too hot to be photographed but here I am! The staff were lovely @northodoxpress.bsky.social @waterstones.bsky.social
Thank you Toppings in York for inviting me to sign copies of Dwell. Such a gorgeous shop and lovely staff! I’m a bit red-faced from yesterday’s heat in the photo, but the shop was actually lovely & cool! And full of gorgeous books, including, now, signed copies of Dwell! @northodoxpress.bsky.social
Yesterday I had a wonderful time visiting bookshops to drop off proofs of Dwell! All lovely shops and booksellers @bookvault.bsky.social Barnsley @darlingreads.bsky.social Horbury @booksonthelane.bsky.social Walton & @waterstones.bsky.social Wakefield Waterstones. Not many bookshop proofs left now

Yesterday was fabulous! My husband gave me this Dwellmas Day present of a 1st edition Angela Brazil, eldest child took me out to lunch & gave me a Dwell cake. I got messages from friends & family with pics of their copies of Dwell. Social media was a riot of love for my novel!
Here's the final promo video. Dwell is out in the world! I'm being sent photos of people holding copies. My novel is on the shelves of shops. This is the most wonderful feeling. Thank you everyone who preordered or is buying a copy. I hope you enjoy it. If you do, please review.
This promo video for Dwell (by Alistair) features an early moment of connection between Albert and Edgar. Hope you like it! Dwell is out tomorrow (June 11th) after which you'll be able to request it at your local library, should you so wish. You could even buy it @northodoxpress.bsky.social
And here’s the photo to prove that I did hold it! (Don’t know what’s up with my hand)
In Dwell, Edgar is the object of Albert's affections. If you want to know how things turn out for them, luckily for you there's not long to wait before Dwell is on the shelves of bookshops & available to order through your local library from Thurs 11th June! Thanks alistairinwonderland for the vid
More proof drops today, this time in central York, meeting the lovely people running Criminally Good Books and @portalbookshop.bsky.social The Portal Bookshop. When Dwell comes out on Thursday (11th June) they will both have it on their shelves!
Yesterday I had a great time driving North out of York to drop proofs of Dwell at Beloved Books in Boroughbridge and Little Ripon Bookshop. The owners, Tom & Gill, were lovely and supportive, their shops gorgeous. Sorry the photos are so rubbish, I was too focussed on meeting the people!
One thing I have been absolutely loving is seeing BookTubers and BookTokkers and other bookish influencers talking about Dwell and holding copies of it!
Just over a week until Dwell, my first novel, is published! Sorry to keep banging on about it, but I’m very excited! Here’s a review from the very talented, imaginative author Emma Van Straaten, author of This Immaculate Body. @northodoxpress.bsky.social

Anyone thinking of entering one of the Yeovil Prize categories: you’ve only got about a week because they close at the end of the month. Coming 2nd in the novel prize in 2019 which was a hugely validating proud moment. This year I’m judging the story prize!
Some more reviews of Dwell by some more wonderful authors! I’m really enjoying this. Dwell, my debut novel of gay love, class, mental health and hope will be published on June 11th by @northodoxpress.bsky.social
Proofs of Nice Things have arrived!!! So exciting. The video could be better, but I’m too happy about being able to share it to fiddle with it. Nice Things is my debut collection, stories of disquiet, desire & displacement which will be published by @flyonthewallpress.bsky.social in December!
