i like to read closed mouths in panels as pauses after or before the character speaks, but i do think i draw more open-mouthed characters after i put in some time to figure out what kind of open mouths i enjoy drawing!

Throwback to the the APPEAL! silkscreen print I did for my first Kickstarter! 💖 It had to be special, so I made it much bigger than I usually printed for conventions back then! I sketched up a few different compositions to embrace the flat aesthetic of only printing with 3 inks: 4 colors total! 🎨

In fact, one of the historical figures that influenced the final visual design of Hector Asamori (from NewsPrints) was the journalist Herb Morrison, LOL. I was very determined to make sure I differentiated how I drew Herb from Hector, LMAO.

lmao, so the first 3 anime series were super formative in my teenage drawing years. In college, I buckled down and studied Leyendecker's work for a while to figure out how he constructed faces and fabric. I also study a lot of BL artists and doujinshi artists, here are some of my faves:
