Denizen of the North Coast who cogitates about cognition, sacred texts, and other sundries. Should be writing about Galatians. (Views are my own)
The final Friday before the start of the Fall semester. The Infant wishes everyone health, safety, and peace.
A soggy penultimate summer Friday on the North Coast. The Infant and I wish everyone health, safety, and peace.
After the storm. My spouse noticed the double rainbow outside our living room window!
No. No I'm not feeling ancient, why do you ask??? 👀 (Artefact from my first semester in college.)
A cloudy and humid morning for a double digit run along the shores of Waabishkiigoo-gichigami.
Another cool Friday on the North Coast. The Infant wishes everyone health, safety, and peace.
A bit warmer and more humid than yesterday on this morning's long(ish) run down along the lake. But it was another beautiful morning lakeside.
A blessedly cool and smoke free Friday on the North Coast. The Infant wishes everyone health, safety, and peace.
YAY for interlibrary loan! (Ok, technically E-Z Borrow, but potato potahto.)
A day late due to connectivity issues: A cool Friday morning in the Maine woods. The Infant wishes everyone health, safety, and peace.
A sunny Friday on the road. A traveling Infant wishes everyone health, safety, and peace.
Harland's book has been eye opening. Not just for its display of prodigious research, but in keeping the "ongoing process of ethnic identification" (20-21) at the forefront of my mind as I wrestle with my own work. 3/
Two fantastic books. Satlow's will help me in the classroom but also serves as a good conceptual reminder in my research. I jokingly told my Spring students that Satlow stole my line: for most of my teaching career, I have told students that the ancients inhabit an enchanted universe. 😉 1/
I snapped this picture yesterday, in a darkened cathedral. The photo doesn't quite capture it, but I very much liked the light from the candles in the columbarium side chapel.
A much milder morning than what we, and many, have experienced (or are still experiencing), but the 84% humidity made the last two miles, um, different from the first six. 😉 Waabishkiigoo-gichigami was beautiful, as ever.
A steamy Friday on the North Coast. The Infant wishes everyone health, safety, and peace.
Mild temps, but 75% humidity down along the lake this morning. It was a good long run and I am reminded how lucky I am to be able to run alongside a Great Lake.
A summer orientation Friday. The Infant and I wish everyone health, safety, and peace.
This memory popped up over on the other site. I now use this early in the semester to talk about the importance of context for making sense of ancient texts (none of my students understand anything going on here). 😁
Minor identity crisis! This morning was the first time since the 1980s that I went for a run in anything other than Sauconies. For over a decade and a half I've only run in Saucony Triumphs. But my old man feet need a bigger toe box. So we're branching out...
Cool(ish) temps + low(ish) humidity + cloud cover for most of the 10 miles = a beautiful double digit run on a lovely late June afternoon along the lake.
Thinking this Friday about someone who populates my early childhood memories who was taken far too soon. Keep an eye out for us all, Kate, and rest easy. An Infant from the archives wishes her family and friends peace and strength.
A long run on a cool, albeit a tad humid, morning along a beautiful lake.
A breezy, mild Friday morning here on the North Coast. The Infants wish everyone health, safety, and peace.
